My take on the Nicene Creed

The Nicene Creed in its original Greek language is fine.

Wiki:

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten [μονογενῆ noun] Son of God, begotten [γεννηθέντα] of the Father before all worlds (æons), Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten [γεννηθέντα], not made, consubstantial with the Father;

γεννηθέντα is a verb participle that means "to be born" or "to be generated." I don't like the word "begotten" so much. I find it too anthropomorphic in the context of the divine Father and Son. It is okay if you understand "begotten" in the formal biblical sense.

Apostle Creed avoided the above issue. Wiki:

I believe in God the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only [μονογενῆ] Son, our Lord, who was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born [γεννηθέντα] of the Virgin Mary,

They are the same two Greek words. This time, the English translation is fine with me.

I also like the fact that the word "Trinity" is not in the creeds.

"Trinity" is "one God" Deut 6:4 in "Three persons" Matt 28:19. Father , Son and Holy Spirit
