"It does not appear that these cases will be filed anytime soon, as they do not seem to be in the DA's office. So if the DA is indicating they are not ready to proceed, we are going to release these individuals on their own recognizances," the judge ruled.

Pray for our nation.

I know! What is the nation coming to when judges uphold the founding principles of our country when it is someone you don't like?

There comes a time when you have to see the handwriting on the wall and accept the truth. They were allowed into the country illegally by the same entity you're expecting to uphold the law. Don't you see the problem with that? It's illogical.

Indeed, some of them had weapons, and I understand at least one tried to seize a weapon from a National Guardsman.

Those charged with certain violent crimes are still detained I believe.

But to the overall OP, this is what happens when you don't have enough courts or judges to adjudicate hearings and trials quickly.

It's a shame the GOP sank the bipartisan federal effort to provide additional funding for immigration courts and judges.

We'll see if Texas spends more on its own.

1) The judge who released them was a state magistrate because they were arrested based on state law.
2) He was upholding Texas state law which requires a bond schedule be issued within 48 hours of arrest.
