2. Those people in higher income backets are more easily able to bear a tax increase as they have significantly more disposable income.
But why should they for a bunch of corrupt politicians? Thanks for so aptly pointing out the difference in liberal and conservative thought.

If the bulk of the wealth goes to the very tippy-top of the economy (and stays there) then the economy will become top-heavy and teeter; this inherently unstable position will lead to a split in our society until monied interests can be made to see reason, (which is, in a capitalist system money should go in at the very bottom of the economy).

The arguments are that:

1. The government is short on money, and that money has to come from somewhere. Tax cuts have not caused it to materialize as promised, and the government has shown itself incapable of cutting expenses in any meaningful way.
2. Those people in higher income backets are more easily able to bear a tax increase as they have significantly more disposable income.
The problem statement boldened in your 1st point will not be solved by the boldened solution in your 2nd point.

The question is: Should disposable income be left in the private sector or taxed into the public sector?

Disposable income that is spent creates jobs for those who provide the goods and services purchased. Disposable income that is saved finds its way into investments that startup companies use to create jobs to provide goods and services.
