Pressing and holding 1, 0, Stop or Cancel will either result in turning off the beeping sounds, or else activating a child lock feature which prevents use of the microwave until it is deactivated. Some older models don't have this function.

I may have to try this, as I have wondered if there was a way to at least muffle the sound a bit. I'm up before dawn each morning, and I live in a condo building, so I feel like I'm waking the dead as my microwave absolutely must loudly beep five times when it's done heating/cooking something, even if I open the door while it's beeping. Five Loud Beeps. The only way I've been able to avoid it is to stop it right before it's done cooking/heating something.

I've moved onto an air fryer. My current microwave burnt a hole into the bottom leaking out 2.4GHz of radiation at 800watts not good. Wires melted inside of it. It wasn't even that old. Ditch your microwave and invest in an air fryer, much safer and you can do more with it.
