I like poetry. This is my favorite that I wrote



"I hide in the Lord under the shadow of his wings
my heart sings of mercy and virtuous things

a merciful God full of truth and grace
I hope in Him. He is my hiding place

I am broken, needy, and utterly afflicted
the Lord is my strength, and my hope resurrected"

I store up your word in my heart as gold and silver
I hope in your word and my soul to deliver

I pray each morning and give my request
Help me, Lord, through every trial and test

I wait expectantly for your help to draw near
With all my heart, I wait for your mercy to appear

O my downcast soul, be thankful and glad
Be gentle with yourself, and do not be sad

We might be burdened beyond measure
We might be cast down, but not forever

The Lord will lift you up into the palm of his hand
He will sit you high on a rock and help you stand

Praise the Lord my soul, your hope shines above
The Lord will never leave you but protect you in love

Jesus is faithful, and my heart is singing
In his temple, I bring songs of thanksgiving

The Lord has shown me compassion and mercy
He saved me from the darkness around me

With the tears of rejoicing, my soul is glad
He lifted me up when I was scared and sad

He picked me up when I was knocked down
He gave me strength and courage to stand my ground

He gave me his faithfulness as my shield
He commanded me to stand firm and not to yield

When all seemed dreary, overpowering, and I felt lost
I put faith in him alone, and he helped me bear my cross

Endurance was with me in the struggle
Fortitude in the Lord is my refuge in battle

The Lord is strong and mighty on Valor
To him alone belong the glory and honor

My redeemer will take me to heaven above
Where my soul rests in peace, joy, and love

Wait on Lord in the night and in the day
Hope in Jesus my heart, it will be ok

Sometimes, things are scary and confusing
O, my fearful heart never stops believing

The Lord will never forsake you. He will always stay
So do not fret or fear. Come what may

Put on courage and the Lord as a shield
Stand firm in faith and never yield

Every burden that we share
God's house is one of prayer

In our darkest hour, he is the light
Every tear is precious in his sight

I am weak, but he is strong
He is my joy and my song

A broken and contrite heart i am bringing
In sorrow, I will rejoice with singing

Fly away from the bloodshed and violence
My soul waits on the Lord in stillness and silence

Sit under your own tree and your vine
Enjoy the fat of the land and the sweet wine

The word of the Lord is my daily bread of life
He shows me gentle love and not worry or strife

Picture a scripture in your heart
like a faithful shield against the fiery dart

When I feel afflicted, lost, and sad
I will see Jesus, and i will be glad

When I'm ugly and i need his mercy
I will see the image of his beauty inside me

I thirst like a deer for redemption to come near
Lord, help me with this burden I bear

hope in the Lord my soul and be courageous
It's Christ who died, and he will surely save us.

Inside, I am dark and afflicted, and i am ugly
My heart doubts that you can ever love me

I hope in you for my soul to restore
If you would shine light on my darkness, I would love you even more.

You must love me if you allow me to love you
Redeem me from this body of death and make me new.

I am afflicted, and inwardly, I groan
Nothing good is in me, but your light alone

Each morning, your mercies are new.
Each day, i will think of what is lovely, noble, and true

In the night, I will rest in peace and love
I will wait eagerly for salvation from above.

My pride was brought low like a mighty hill
I was afflicted in the valleys, and i was still

i was raised up and set on level ground
my mind was alert, and judgment was sound

I was alone in my fight within
no one could sustain me or forgive my sin

Lord, O how my bitter soul laments
without you, I am nothing, and my heart repents

Have mercy on me, O God, i am a lost sinner
Let me enter your kingdom rejoicing as a winner.

let me fly with the wings of an eagle
and help me sing like the dove and the sparrow

Lord, my hope is in your grace
if only i could see your smiling face

you're my hope, and you're my light
you help me see in the darkness of night

each morning, your mercies are new
each day, I pray to be like you

You saved me from worry, fear, and strife
I am thankful for you, the way, truth, and life.

I was in a terrible battle zone
In my soul, where i inwardly groan

I was burdened beyond measure
On every side, I felt the pressure

Like a bird, I grew wings and flew away
Into the kingdom and a brand new day

Lord, my heart sings like a lonely bird
I meditate in peace on your word

I'm weary of conflict. Let me fly away
Let my feet find rest where I will stay

Be my hiding place, and my king
Let me have peace in everything

Hide me under the protection of your wings
Hear me, O Lord, as my heart sings

In the eyes of man, I am ugly
In the mirror, there is no beauty that I see

Forgive my iniquity and hide my shame
Make me clean and give me your name

I am a refugee of my own sin
Lord, be my place to hide in

I am alone, and i have no brother
No one can save me. There is no other.

In the darkness obscured
The battle lines are blurred

He is mighty and bears the sword
Victory belongs to the Lord

I don't know who is enemy or friend
I follow Jesus until the end

Hold my shield and do not yield
Hope in the Lord on the battlefield

In your spirit, help me sow
Give me songs like the sparrow

Forever redeemed in your love
Let me be harmless as a dove

Lift me high above the warfare and struggle
Let me fly with the wings of an eagle

You gave me hope when I was broken
You took me in when I was forsaken

I'm alone, and i have only my Lord
Only you can save me. You're my shield and sword

In you alone, I find peace, and my foot finds rest
Who can condemn me? Not one is righteous

Where is the teacher and the wise man? He is a fool
He lives in simplicity by a golden rule

Help me see and meditate on you.
You are the light of life, and you are true

Help me to understand and obey
Your law is on my heart, and thus, i pray

If i fail, please forgive and help your servant
My heart is contrite and fervent

I am thankful for the lamp that you lit
And you are a warm fire for my weary spirit

We have no building or robes to wear
We have only a cross that we bear

For gold and silver, we do not care
We have wisdom so precious and rare

You told me to flee from division and contention
Lord, i thank you for freeing me from my affliction

Although my enemy may abound and increase
I am blessed to be hated and to find your peace

Under the shadow of your wings, I rest and i hide
No one can condemn me, It's Christ who died

I am rich, though I am poor
Praise the Lord my soul, be at rest once more

Undeserving of your treasure
I've utterly failed beyond measure

I hope in your unfailing love to be shown
Let it be so much bigger than my own

Without you, there is no new creation
O my king, my Lord, be my salvation

I pray today for my soul to save
Deliver me from the stinging grave

Wait on the Lord weary soldier
Find strength and bear your armor

His word is truth, hope in the Lord
He is your shield, and your sword

We fight by faith and not by sight
Hope in the Lord and the power of His might

He is not overcome by the darkness
He will sustain your contrition and brokenness

O Lord, light up my spirit and let me see
Let me feel the warmth of your beauty and tender mercy

I will hope in you, my great Lord and King
Nothing can separate us. My heart will sing.

Hope in the Lord and in his redemption
O my soul, find rest in your affliction
