I've never heard of the other offering. Is it toasted on a Hawaiian beach over wood smoke or Palm leaves? :yum:
Let Wiki explain:

Toast Hawaii or Hawaiian Toast is an open sandwich consisting of a slice of toast with ham and cheese, and a maraschino cherry in the middle of a pineapple slice, broiled, so that the cheese starts to melt.[1] It was invented, or at least made popular, by the German TV cook Clemens Wilmenrod and became popular in West Germany in the 1950s.[by whom?] It is likely that it was adapted from the "Grilled Spamwich", a recipe published in a Spam cookbook by Hormel in 1939[2] and brought to West Germany by American G.I.s. Spam was not available in Germany's grocery stores so Wilmenrod replaced it with a slice of cooked ham.

To be authentically Hawaiian, Toast Hawaii must have the Spam.

When I was a kid in Oklahoma, pineapple and cherries were commonly baked on holiday hams, then served with a macaroni and cheese casserole, so that combination of flavors wasn't unusual to me.

I'd rather have that than Hawaiian pizza.

Hawaiian pizza with pineapple pieces and ham used to be a standard order when I was a kid.

We also sometimes add a pineapple ring to the classic Australian "Hamburger with the Lot".

"The Lot" includes...
  • a hamburger patty
  • shredded lettuce
  • sliced tomato
  • a ring of pineapple
  • sliced beetroot
  • fried onion
  • bacon
  • a cheese slice
  • a fried egg
...all stacked on a lightly toasted hamburger bun with a squirt of tomato or barbecue sauce.

Deadly.

Look at the picture. The hamburger is full of salad veggies like tomato, lettuce, pineapple, beetroot and onion. Cheese and egg are also good for you unless you overdo them, Even a hamburger patty and bacon are OK- in moderation.

I haven't had a 'hamburger with the lot' in decades but they were a standard offering in Australian Milk Bars and Fish 'n' Chip shops in the era before McDonalds flooded the market with their insipid offering.

Ok, i stand corrected for you. For me that's junk food. You remind me of my friend that sud pizza wasn't junk food:)

Pizza's debatable. It depends what's on it and how much you eat.

Yes I really love the Hawaiian pizza with pineapples and Toast from Jollibee Restaurant in Philippines. If you are from Philippines you should try this restaurant.
I lived in Quezon City from 68-70 and learned about Jollibee from Anthony Bourdain. Had a Filipino coworker who drove down to Houston from Dallas when they opened one there. Dallas finally got one about 3 years ago. It's pretty close to where I live and I like the menu.

I'm not a fan of pineapple, but I love Hawaiian pizza (which was invented by Greek immigrants to Canada and Toast Hawaii.

Richard Dole, founder of the Dole fruit company is a distant cousin of mine.
