if you had to define Grace to a 10 year old child - how would you define it.

30 words or less.
God knowing us and making us anyway, and changing us to become like him.

Thank you. What would that mean in practical terms to a 10 year old?
If a ten year old does not know who Jesus Christ of Nazareth is then the question of what Grace is, is of no consequence. Start at the beginning, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Blessings.

In Exodus 33:13, Moses wanted God to be gracious to him by teaching him to walk in His way that he might know Him and Israel too, so I'd define the grace of God to a 10-year-old child as God's gift of teaching us how to experience having a relationship with Him by acting in accordance with His nature through obeying His law, which is eternal life (John 17:3)

This is the beginning of a study I did some years ago:

Grace

The Lord is gracious. He is the giver of Grace and the God of all Grace. His Throne is a throne of Grace. The prophets of old prophesied of the grace that should come unto us. This Grace came by Jesus; He was full of grace, and it is from His fullness that we receive one grace after another. The grace of God was upon Him. It was by grace that He tasted death for every man.

The Holy Spirit is called the Spirit of Grace. Our message is called the Gospel of the grace of God, and the word of His grace. We are justified freely by His Grace. We are called by grace, into grace. it is grace we are under and it is grace wherein we stand. We are partakers of grace.
Grace teaches us to resist ungodliness and to live righteously. Grace establishes our hearts Grace builds us up and gives us an inheritance. Grace gives us everlasting consolation and a good hope. Grace helps us in times of need. God's grace is sufficient to put us over all of life's difficulties, and causes us to reign in life.

Grace enables us to serve God acceptably and to preach the unsearchable riches of Christ. Our words can minister Grace to others. We are to sing with Grace in our hearts, and our words are to be seasoned with Grace.

Grace makes us what we are as it works in us and through us. It is the grace of God that makes us rich and meets all our needs. Grace is given to every believer. Grace calls us to be enriched by Him in all utterances and knowledge. We are told to grow in Grace, be strong in Grace, to continue in Grace and to abound in Grace. The Word speak of great Grace, the abundance of Grace, the grace of life, the dispensation of grace, His exceeding Grace, the glory of His Grace, the riches of His Grace, the gift of Grace, the manifestation of the grace of God, the true Grace of God, and the election of Grace.

An individual can: come short of grace, receive Grace in vain, fall from Grace. The grace of God can be abused as an opportunity for immorality, and individual can do despite of the Spirit of Grace. God gives more grace to the humble, and to the sincere. Grace is multiplied to us through the knowledge of God and our Lord Jesus Christ, and is obtained by coming boldly before His throne.

God gives more grace to the humble, and to the sincere. Grace is multiplied to us through the knowledge of God and our Lord Jesus Christ, and is obtained by coming boldly before His throne.
In Psalms 119:29-30, David wanted to put false ways far from him, for God to be gracious to him by teaching him to obey His law, and he chose the way to faithfulness by choosing to obey it, so this has always been the one and only way of salvation by grace through faith. In Romans 1:5, we have received grade in order to bring about the obedience of faith, and in Titus 2:11-14, our salvation is described as being trained by grace to do what is godly, righteous, and good, and to renounce doing what is ungodly. In John 16:13, the Spirit has the role of leading us in truth in Ezekiel 36:26-27, the Spirit has the role of leading us to obey God's law, and in Psalms 119:142, God's law is truth, so this is why the Spirit is of grace and truth. In Matthew 4:15-23, Jesus began his ministry with the Gospel message to repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand, and God's law is how his audience knew what sin is, so repenting from our disobedience to it is a central part of the Gospel message, and this is also how grace and truth came through the law and through him (John 1:16-17). God's law is His instructions for how to grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (Exodus 33:13).

First off, "grace" is also translated "gift." 2 Corinthians 9:8 shows grace to provide for and equip us so that we can abound in good works. Calvinism's redefining of the word changes it's meaning to so much less, but that would be consistent.

Could we also say that Grace points God to us and this life?
Grace is not a separate principle which acts upon God. Grace is what it is, because God is gracious.

Yes, sometimes I find myself thankful that His grace has not left me. You know, those moments when you have a nasty thought in your mind, but all of a sudden you say something totally opposite?

It's when on Christmas morning you wake up to a pillowslip full of presents, when you know you didn't do anything to deserve them.
