Let me take the example of the BC Ferries in, well, BC.
On the plus side:
-White Spot food
On the "it's the same" side:
-Same service
-Same problems with lateness.
On the negative side:
-Rising costs-it was said privatizing the BC ferries would bring costs down.
-Technically, many of the ferry routes are just continuations of the Trans Canada highway. Should we start privatizing, say, Highway 3-Crowsnest?
-Same problems with service and lateness-wasn't privatizing supposed to limit these problems?
-And the biggy: Out of country contracts! How does this benifit the BC economy in the long or middle run? It doesn't!
So...basically, we need the private industry to start doing what it said it would do: To lower costs to consumers, to lower wait times, to lower problems, to raise the satisfaction level.
