Again, let's not just look at the circle.

There's also that passage I quoted about "as far as the east is from the west."

Put the two passages together, and you have an east-west plane with a north-south circle.

In other words, a three dimensional sphere.

... that makes no sense at all.

The passage says circle, so why is it hard to admit, as a literalist, that it's saying circle? Or do your Boolean standards just take a hike here?

Have you been following the conversation?

Did I say it was anything other than a circle?

It's a circle.

Isaiah 40:22a It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth,

Add that passage with this passage ...

Psalm 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

... and you have a sphere.

Except that Psalm 103 isn't talking about a physical object. It's being metaphorical.

Since the preceding and succeeding verses are:

Psalm 103:11 - For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

And

Psalm 103:13 - Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.

It's not talking about an actual physical thing: it's a poem about God.

Although of course for you and your ilk, the Bible is literal only when you want it and allegorical only when you want it.

All that's saying is that east is as far away as possible from west. They are on opposite sides of the compass.

It is a metaphor.

No one is literally putting your sins at some location on earth. They are being put 'far away'.

This verse is not saying anything about what maps look like, much less the earth. Just that east and west are opposites.

If you have a better interpretation, let's hear it.

Fair enough.

If you have a better explanation, I'm all ears eyes.

It's a poetic metaphor, nothing else. Considering that the verses surrounding it are comparing God to other things, then it's clearly not talking about an actual sphere or circle or place.

As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. = God has taken our sins and taken them far away from us.

It's poetry! And I hate that CF has so many problems with it's bolding font thing.

Bolding font thing?

All you have to do is use the codes [ b] and [/ b].

Or highlight what you want bolded, then click the B on the task bar.

Yeah, but if you and paste something that's bold, even if you switch the B in the task bar off, it still sets everything as bolded font. Really annoying because if I didn't switch it, it'd have looked like I was shouting at you.

It's not that controversial that the cosmology depicted in the OT is a firmament (erected like a tent) over a flat earth.

If you look at the top right of the task bar, there is a back arrow that says "undo," a forward arrow that says "redo," a set of brackets that says "toggle BB code," and a Preview button.

Just copy and paste your item, click on the "toggle BB code" button ( the brackets that look like this: [ ] ), and delete
the [ b] and [/ b] codes.

Then click on the "toggle BB code" button again, and it's gone.

Yes, let's put passages together and see what the Bible says.

"The dry land He called Earth" Genesis 1:10

"It is he that sits above the circle of the land and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers."
Isaiah 40:22

"Where were you when I laid the foundations of the land?"

"Who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth as if it had issued out of the womb?"

"And set for it its limit, and set bars and doors,
and said, to here shall thou come and no further:
and here shall your proud waves be stayed
?"

"[the ends of the earth] is turned as clay to the seal;
and they stand as a garment."

Job 38:4-14

A dome set upon waters, limiting the waters under it from going further,
and causing a seal, God sitting on top. In a city with streets of transparent gold.

The Bible also tells us water is coming from the throne of God Revelation 22:1
The city is on top of the sky now, Gods throne in the middle of the city,
and therefore water flowing down and around the dome.

Proverbs 8:23-24 lets us know water was the first physical thing created,
water from God Himself. And He made a firmament, in the midst of the waters,
to divide the water from the water. That is what the Bible says.
The waters under the firmament are held in by the firmament Job 38:10-11
The stars were placed in the firmament Genesis 1:14
The dry land is under the firmament Genesis 1:9
We, are under a great dome, hard as a molten looking glass. Job 37:18

I think if you use the "paste without formatting option" this problem does not arise, but it might be influenced by where you are copying from. I haven't tested it rigorously, but it works for me.
