these verses seemingly say different things. Which is correct?:

Ezekiel 11:3

KJV: which say, It is not near: let us build houses: this city is the caldron, and we be the flesh.

NKJV: who say, ‘The time is not near to build houses; this city is the caldron, and we are the meat.’

What does this mean?

Hmm. NIV says something differently. (hmm...)

NIV: They say, ‘Haven’t our houses been recently rebuilt? This city is a pot, and we are the meat in it.’

The Scholars seem to prefer the NKJV and other translations that are similar...

Grammatically, however, the rendering of the Revised Version is preferable: The time is not near for building houses; probably, as before, with a reference to Jeremiah's advice. "We," they seem to say, "are not come to that plaint yet. We will trust, as in , in our interpretation of the caldron."
