Proverbs 12:
Protection.
AKA: Better than a Security Alarm.

No matter what is going on in the news, or all around us, God promises that the righteous will be in a place that is "un-shakable" and "solid as a rock", as our Foundation will be God Himself. When HE "plants" us somewhere, and we are "in Him", He has rooted us deeply in HIS Foundation. It is written that any evil will NOT come near us. He has established us, and He is guarding us, and He WILL "keep" us.

The bottom line, is that whatever evil may "attempt" to come near us or our dwelling, would have to go through HIM first.

He LITERALLY "guards" us and "keeps" us.

He IS our GOOD Shepherd.

"There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling." ~Ps 91:10

Proverbs 12:

Deep Roots.

God nurtures us as we delve into His Word, and consequently we develop deep deep roots, as we grow "rooted" in His Word. These deep roots sustain us through many storms, and they strengthen us to withstand whatever tsunami's may come our way.

It's almost like God gives us His own "booster shot" or "inoculation" against all that may come against us, isn't it?

He is SUCH a GOOD Shepherd, and a GOOD Father.

Amen?

Hi there. I'm new here. I saw this section and decided to join in the reading. I particularly liked the last verse: In the path of righteousness is life, and in its pathway there is no death. (ESV) The NIV version is especially beautiful: In the way of righteousness there is life; along that path is immortality.
that is beautiful.

Proverbs 12:

Crumbling houses.
AKA: Crumbling legacies.
AKA: Fading into oblivion.

It is written that the wicked will have no legacy, and that what they have will be taken from them, including their houses.

The bottom line is, how can one build ANYTHING of lasting value or worth on lies, deception, and the seeking to shed/take innocent blood.

To do these things, is akin to bringing curses on their own selves, their families, and households, isn't it?

ANYTHING built on such things is already rotting from the inside-out, from the foundation on up, isn't it?

How utterly blind, foolish, and self-destructive, amen?

Tragic.

"The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them. The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand." ~Pr 12:6-7

"The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious" (Pro 12:27 KJV).

At first blush it is easy to look at this verse and think just how lazy we have become in our civilized age. Today we don't go out and bag a deer to fill the larder with food for the coming winter, we go to the grocery store and buy a pound or two of food for the day's dinner. Humorously I recall the story of one woman that was so against hunting that she said people should get their meat from the grocer where animals don't have to die!

But truly, it is the lazy man that depends on state sustenance when he should be out working for an employer to earn an honest day's wage and provide for his family. Of course, I am not speaking of the truly destitute that need help from the state -- but there are those that are 'gaming the system' and sitting back and doing nothing but take, rarely if ever, giving back.

Lord, help us to depend on You for our daily bread and for the good health to do the things necessary to do the jobs You have provided for us to the best of our ability - to give eight hours work for eight hours pay because we know that you despise "a false balance." Amen!

Amen. It is a BLESSING in so many ways to "earn one's keep" and to provide for oneself and support one's family. It's psychologically and spiritually health-enhancing and is a major factor in alleviating the many depressions that have their genesis in "boredom" and "complacency".

Those who have jobs can count their blessings. For even if it's an abominable place to work, the experience surely is a "learning" one, and if anything, can give us a thankfulness of going home at the days end.

The bottom line, is that there is no "peace" when one doesn't work, but certainly can. It's as it is written, that it's like lying in bed tossing and turning. A "restlessness", if you will.

God bless you Brother Virgil, and thank you for this thought-provoking study and meditation. :)

Proverbs 12:

He is our "Shelter".

How blessed God's promises are, and that is, that no evil will come near the house of those who TRUST in Him. As it is written, He encircles us and our households with His angels who encamp around us. And as it is written in Job, that He also places a "hedge" of protection around us.

How utterly precious and reassuring this is.

These verses comes to mind:

"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." ~Ps 91:1

"Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling." ~Ps 91:9-10

(This entire Psalm is a treasure of reassurances from our heavenly Father. How PRECIOUS and faithful He is.)

Joy and Peace.

God intends to use us to pour out His joy and His peace, through His precious Holy Spirit, working through us, in particular through our prayers. For it is GOD Who will move to accomplish prayers that are according to His will, and HIS Good and HIS loveliness will beat evil ev'ry time, and even woo the ones who are quagmired in that prison of deceit in their hearts and imagining evil and wickedness. our prayers shed His LIGHT right smack in the middle of that dark place, scattering it, through our prayers, lifted to the living One and TRUE God Who is ABLE to free those in such a prison of darkness.

May the prayers commence, and may His Light shine in those dark places, and may His joy and His peace gladden not only our own hearts, but those desperately in need of it.

Proverbs 12:

Encouraging Words.

"Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad." ~Prov 12:25

God enables us to have an "ear" and a "heart" for the discouraged and the suffering and downtrodden. He "prepares" us in His "boot camp", so to speak, by our own experiences, and sufferings, and discouragements. This is, for the most part, a "prerequisite" for ministering to the hurting, the suffering, and the discouraged.

Proverbs 12:

Open To God's Teaching.

I was just thinking about this first verse, and how, in order to "love instruction", one must be first, "humble", and to be in "sync" with this verse:

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding." ~Pr 3:5

This is what is meant by Biblical "Child-like-ness".

Child-like-ness = without guile or pride.
AKA: Humble.

"Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish." ~Pr 12:1

Proverbs 12:

A Lying Tongue.

"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" ~Isa 5:20

There are seven specific abominations that God abhors. One of these is lying:

"These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren." ~Pr 6:16-19

Proverbs 12:

Life, glorious Life.

How wonderful is our God? He gives us life right here and now (for our former selves have already died) and this life now, even if we seemingly "die", do not "die" but continue living, and throughout eternity, for THAT is the life our precious Lord is speaking of. Let's pray pray pray for our families, and loved ones, and all those we know, and all who we come in contact with, through shopping, and in daily activities, and even on the internet, so that they will embrace our Lord, and have eternal life as well.

Amen?

 Father, may it be so, in Jesus name, amen. (((hug)))

Words.

"The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned." ~Isa 50:4

Our words can "pierce the heart" like a sword, or they can "comfort" and "heal".

I am reminded of Isaiah, a verse that says that God gives us the tongue of the "learned", speaking words in "season" to those who need them. "Season" means "timely".

When God transforms our heart of stone to a heart of flesh, He also grants us wisdom, discernment, and discretion, that blesses others. Our words become apples of gold, so to speak.

"A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver." ~Pr 25:11
