You are incorrect. I am sure that Meese and Mukaskey understand the rules and laws. I believe them rather than someone whom I have never met before except in an online forum.
The only lawyers I have heard make arguments against the nature of the SC regulation are blatantly partisan and only when it so happens the investigation is of "their guy". You don't here them making the same claim against the appointment of John Durham or David Weiss.

Obviously Thomas prefers "technicalities" instead of truth.

His wife's support of the insurrection should require him to recuse himself.
There was no insurrection. That is only a liberal talking point drilled into the heads of those who are willing to believe the nonsense. A protest gone awry yes but an insurrection is a contrived charge by the left. Trump has not been formally charged and convicted in a court of law of insurrection only in the liberal court of opinion.

Why investigate Presidents at all if they’ve got “immunity”?

There was no “successful” insurrection.

There was no insurrection attempt! Liberal propaganda. Why did some law enforcement escort some of the protestors in? Did they not get the forceful insurrection memo?

I don't care what you call it.
It is a fact that Trump sat on his but for hours while the mob that he invited to D.C. viciously attacked the the Capitol police, threatened members of Congress and effectively delayed official proceedings as prescribed in the US Constitution.

Trump would NEVER try to lead an insurrection. That's beneath him. He will only say what he wants and then he'd expect his underlings to do it. So he might say something like "Make sure people can't vote by mail" or "Hey, get some fake electors" or "fight like hell or you won't have a country anymore".

The question: Would Trump benefit from all of the actions of everyone else:
Yes, of course he would have. I have no need have Trump convicted of an insurrection. I can see that he was going to benefit from one when putting together all the pieces that have been evidenced.

I just finished Liz Cheney's book, "Oath of Honor." She goes into exhaustive detail, gleaned from her participation in the January 6 committee, describing exactly what happened during the attempted insurrection. She includes quotes (since I listened to the audio book, the quotes are actually recited in the voices of the witnesses) from police officers, legislators, and others involved. She noted that when Trump finally decided his words had caused enough mayhem for the day and told them all to leave, they, like obedient little automatons, left automatically.

You should listen to this book by a principled Republican. You will see how much of the real story has been ignored by your preferred news media.

Your mistake is believing anything Liz said. She is not a pricipled Republican she is Republican in name only through and through. What did they withhold until forced to release video that did not fit their narrative. I am sorry you have fallen for the big lie from that committee.

I think we have a definition problem here. Some were escorted in by capitol police. There is some question about who actually died and when . One protester was shot for braking a window. Had they went in with AK’s that would have an insurrection. Shall we talk about the planted fake bombs at the DNC. Did CNN tell you about that?

They were not.

Not really. A couple trump supporters died of natural causes at the Capitol, one was shot. A few cops died by suicide in the days after, one died of a stroke the day after in the hospital.
One protester was shot for braking a window.
She did not break the window. She was ready to leap through the missing window.
Had they went in with AK’s that would have an insurrection.
Were insurrections impossible before the invention of the automatic, repeating rifle?
Shall we talk about the planted fake bombs at the DNC.
Where do you get that they were "fake". There was 1 bomb behind the DNC building and one near a Republican club. Nothing has been revealed about who planted them.
Did CNN tell you about that?
Don't watch CNN.

Well we finally can agree on something! The problem is the way many frame this is the protesters came in and murdered cops.
