What if I just don’t buy it?

I appreciate the replies here. After posting this I decided to simply ignore what I don’t believe, and “pretend” to be a real Christian for 90 days and see where it goes. I’m reading the word, praying, going to church, hanging w other Christians, worshiping, and going to a Bible study. We will...

What if I just don’t buy it?

For anyone else struggling w this stuff, I just found this article really helpful. I’m sure some will disagree w it, and that’s OK. https://bible.org/article/taking-bible-literally

What if I just don’t buy it?

That first link is really eye opening, thanks! Edit — for a long time I’ve felt like a total oddball that doesn’t believe everything in the Bible but does try to follow Christ. It’s like a weight off my shoulders

What if I just don’t buy it?

I appreciate everyones input. I also have no desire to debate anyone here. For those that suggest I just think differently (paraphrasing), know that if I could I would have long ago.

What if I just don’t buy it?

Greetings. I’ve been struggling w the whole Christ/ church/ Bible thing for over a decade. I wish I could believe whatever I read in the Bible, or at least most of it, but I just can’t.…. But here’s the catch — I believe in Christ and the resurrection. Resurrection itself would be...

Good repository of where science proves the Bible?

Greetings. I’ve struggled with the Christian/ Bible/ Jesus thing for far longer than I care to admit. What convinces me more than anything else is when modern science proves what was written in the Bible so long ago. I’ve watched a lot of YouTube videos and read a lot of articles of facts...

    I want to believe but...

This seems to be an answer for quite a bit though— “it’s completely ridiculous or impossible so you must just not understand”. Where else in your life does this thinking work? Under what other circumstances do you totally disregard common sense? Not trying to pick on you specifically, this has...

    I want to believe but...

Yeah, I can tell. I do appreciate your input, but there's a reason these things are tough to discuss on public forums, and this post has nailed it. I'm not going to reply to each question specifically as I suspect it will simply lead to more questions and this seems to be going in...

    I want to believe but...

As mentioned previously I have no desire to debate anything with anyone, but this response has prompted me to clarify a few things ..... To be clear, yes raising Jesus from the dead would be a major miracle -- but I've done enough research on that to believe it. It's not that I don't believe...

    I want to believe but...

I've thought about this since I read it. I've heard this more than once and it frustrates me to say the least. If parts of it are meant to be literal, and others aren't, doesnt that leave the whole thing open to interpretation by man? Isn't it possible none of it's real based on this idea? Thanks.

I may give this a shot, thanks.

    I want to believe but...

Greetings. Let me start by saying I have no interest in debating anyone on anything. If our ideas don't match, just know that I'm totally open to mine changing -- in fact that's why I'm posting this. That said, here's the deal... I believe in Christ. I believe He was the son of God, died for...

    Why have faith?

I'd like to think so, but I really don't know. It's easy to say yes when it's not happening. What I do know is many people have left religion when they had faith and their life fell apart, had the death of a child, etc.
