pfft. Give me a gas grill any day. While you're whiffing lighter fluid and waiting (and waiting...and......) for the coals to get "just right," I'll have cooked and eaten 2 or 3 hot dogs and probably finished off a beer. "The charcoal taste" is grossly overrated.

I just put a few charcoals in my gas BBQ.

My stepmom got us addicted to hot dogs topped with a good homemade coleslaw when we were kids--beef only for us.

I thought SDA's didn't eat meat/animal products?

Most are vegetarians---if meat is eaten --or fish--, we stick to the "clean" meats and fish. I was a vegetarian for years, felt better, looked better. My husband is not SDA--growing up we were not vegetarian, my stepmom would rather have been, but our father wouldn't go for it. I went to SDA boarding school, met the vegedog there----gag me!!! Rather do without!

Vegan hot dog? What are they made out of?
A variety of things, tofu, root vegetables, etc. There are some pretty good ones now.
Plus, and this is for Bill, if you grill a big carrot and serve it on a hot dog bun with fixins, it tasted very good. Not exactly like a hot dog but good in its own right.

Yes, here as well. I just never knew what "kosher" meant. It seems a varying and slippery definition to get hold of.

I saw it, or something similar. Didn't bother me, or the other stupid stuff people say about them. Although I try to buy ones relatively healthier, I'm not eating them for health reasons. :)
Kosher would be better in the long run I'd think.
I did very much enjoy homemade Cincinnati chili dogs. With sautéed onions on top. And a side of thick perfectly dipped and deep fried, which is an art to itself so as not to have them greasy as all get out, onion rings.
Wash it down with a black beer.
