I am not a KJVOnly follower.
....but, why not? I can understand if one has not been taught the difference....alot of people haven't...in fact, most....and I would not have known, had I not run into a sermon at 'Sermon Audio'... and I started listening to more....plus I found a web-site called 'Bible Discernment'

No...I think it was the 'Bible Discernment' site that caused me to listen to sermons on bible translations.

Hello just to say hi, I am a KJV defender. I think the reason there are not alot of posts about this lately, well I speak to soon, is that they were banned for 30 days in the Baptist Forum, things got too hot. Im not here to debate, it is a lost cause for most people on here. If people ask God with an open heart honestly wanting to know the truth without any biased perception, or willingly being ignorant, God will convinct hearts of His truth whether for or against staying with the KJV over modern translations. But you know what I believe about God and His precious Word. God Bless.

The thing is...I don't know why people fight it....once I learned the truth, I found it was a great relief....and everything that a muslim or Jehovah's Witness ever said to me can now be explained....they favor translations that deny the Trinity....

Muslims don't read the bible, normally....but sometimes it seems like they get together with JWs and exchange notes...

Discernment may be simply defined as the ability to biblically decide between right and wrong, between truth and error, between good and evil. In Hebrews 5:14 we are told that discernment comes with spiritual maturity that the Spirit works in us (diakrisis - Strong's #1253).

Spreading the Gospel is important. "King James Only" Christians are obsessed with this issue zealously and spending more time talking about KJV more than they do talking about the Lord Jesus Christ. The purpose to spread the gospel is to spread the Word of God in person's own language level, not the Church tradition's language level. Grace means to help the lost to KNOW Christ and have them understand salvation in their own level of english skills. Those who place KJV as the true translation will often ignored the Great Commission. I have learned how "self-righteous" type of believers or some called them "legalism" that they really expect certain people should be able to read KJV regardless their english level. KJV is personal preference rather than divine preference.

I don't mean to get too technical here, but the KJV was not inspired --- it was translated.

Inspiration, per se, ended in 96 AD, and deals only with the autographs (writings in the authors' own handwriting).

There are three methods that God used to get His Word from Heaven to your bookshelf:
  1. Inspiration - writing it down for the 1st time.
  2. Preservation - making sure it was copied correctly.
  3. Translation - changing it from one language or dialect to another.

That was my point - there's nothing wrong with using the KJV, but it is NOT the only translation a Christian can use. It is ONLY a translation. However, KJV-Only people try to say that the KJV is the ONLY true Word of God. I was just trying to show that it's not logical to think that way.

For example, the King James says: 1Ti 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

:amen:
Here is the TR manuscript....it says "Theos"

I'm not debating, I'm just saying...

I am more Textus Receptus only than KJV only, I mean I will use the Geneva Bible of 1599 and Tyndales of 1525 but I don't think they will have many takers :p

I find "KJV Defender Club" silly and superficial. :p ^_^ ;)

No translation is quite as effective as the flesh-and -blood edition. Alas, some of these are very incomplete and some are parodies of the text. Some are private revisions, not translations, of the original. Remember, a world is watching us. May our translationsbe true in letter and spirit. Vance Havner, Baptist Preacher (1901 -1973)

"God is not silent. It is the nature of God to speak. The second person of the Holy Trinity is called "The Word." A.W. Tozer
Yes. Jesus is called "Τhe Word'....and He quoted the scriptures often.

Why do you want to take down the only reliable word we have? You are a baptist....don't you want to defend the Trinity, fulfilled prophecies, the doctrine of hell...the incarnation, and the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ?
The ONLY reliable Word of God? Care to show me where the Geneva, Tyndale, Bishops(from which much of the KJV was taken), and various others are in error?

Two things I dont understand about KJVO is:

Which revision of the KJV is inspired since it was revised ten times? In 1611 or in one of the years when major/minor revisions took place?—in 1613, 1629, 1638, 1644, 1664, 1701, 1744, 1762, 1769, or 1850?

The KJV translators translated the Apocrypha and included these books in the original 1611 edition. If the KJV translation was inspired, does this mean that the Apocrypha is inspired by God also? And if so, why was the Apocrypha removed from later editions?
I like the 1631! :D

I said I'm new at this...but if they are from the same manuscript line, I would guess they are good, as well.
