Luke 1:1-64

Luke

Chapter 1
Verses 1 - 4 seems very confident.
Verses 6, 10, 13 stand out to me. I have found it at times a confusing theological battle, between unmerited favor and God drawing near to those who draw near to him. Clearly the Bible points out Zacharias and Elisabeth were righteous before God (verse 6), which I don't doubt was in some ways causal to verse 13 and 14.

Verse 16 and 17 are perhaps of importance personally.

Verse 16 and 17

And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.

And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. (Note: Keep in mind that this is specifically about John and Jesus in context)

Verse 20

"...because thou believest not my words..."

Verse 30

"Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found favour with God.

I assume this is because of her righteous spirit, only to a degree grace.

Verse 35

While I do not grasp the full new-testament context for ἐπισκιάζω, "to overshadow," I think it noteworthy that the power of the Highest is able to create the Christ by merely overshadowing her -- leading to thoughts of the full power of the Highest.

Verse 36

"... who was called barren."

May God do what man does not expect nor think possible.

Verse 37

"For with God nothing shall be impossible."

Verse 38.

Her humble and accepting response is of more worth than I give it.

Verse 45.

"And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord." This may in some ways apply as an example for the reader.

Verses 47 through 55

Mary certainly seems very pious, which may be reason God favored her. Her theology that she explains seems refreshing.

Verse 64.

I find relevant the exact timing of God.
