I'm for evangelism--the proclamation of the Gospel. What I disagree with is the idea that we can make other people Christians. I can't bring someone to Jesus, Jesus brings people to Himself. It's about understanding that God works through the Means of Grace to accomplish His purposes, the Church is the instrument through the Means are found--preaching the Word and administering the Sacraments--but as an individual it is not in my power or ability to make someone else believe. I can't make another person believe, I can't argue or debate or reason a person into faith--because faith isn't something that comes by reason, intuition, or argument; faith comes extra nos, from outside ourselves, as a supernatural gift of God apart from us.

I'm not going to make anyone a Christian by arguing with them, or trying to convince them through the use of rhetoric or reason. Evangelism, the proclaiming of the Gospel, is a very different thing than arguing a person into believing. If someone asks me about my faith, I am happy to share with them my faith and hope--but as St. Peter says it must be done with gentleness and respect.

Jesus had the same problem. Some accepted His message and many didn't accept His message. A student is not above His teacher.

The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.

And Jesus made some fishers of men.

As I stated such work (not for our salvation or sake) but for the good of others in leading one to Christ for "their" salvation is a work of love. And is the Fathers work. Therefore lawful and good.

Each must call on the lord themselves as we can't convert people.

“But what about you?” Jesus asked. “Who do you say I am?”

16Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

17Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.

I am certainly not Jewish but as has been stated, there is no official view of Jesus in Judaism. Most believe he was just a rabbi who failed to fulfilled the messianic prophecies along with a long list of other Jews, others see him as a mad man, and a very small few see him as a minor prophet who was a foreshadowing of the spiritual/priestly messsiah.

I believe him to be a human being anointed by God as his Son to proclaim the good news.

I know little of the Jewish faith so bear with me if i start simply right at the beginning of my curiosity and need to learn and understand.
As Jews, who do you think Jesus was on earth and is now? What is the official view of the Jewish religion and in your own heart?

I am actually Messianic Gentile but my answer may surprise many Jews. I tend to believe that Rabbi Yeshua - Jesus induced a near death experience ..... or at least an out of the body experience.......during his forty days of fasting... and so parts of Matthew 4 may have taken place in a higher invisible dimension of space - time.

I believe that Rabbi Yeshua - Jesus fully met with and in a sense Vulcan Mind Melded with his own most ancient Over Soul that if I remember correctly Rabbi Alon Anava may term a "shul."

I believe that Rabbi Alon Anava is probably more like the historical John the Baptist and / or Rabbi Yeshua - Jesus than just about any Christian on earth........ because like Rabbi Alon Anava if you were to meet Rabbi Yeshua - Jesus during his human ministry and asked him about hidden meaning in numbers..... he could have given you an answer much like some of Rabbi Alon Anava's lectures on various topics.

Meeting the most ancient part of ourselves that in a way is our portion of the breath of life...... that was breathed into Adam and Eve..... is not an easy thing to do. If Messiah Yeshua - Jesus was tempted in all points like unto all of us........ was he tempted in ways similar even to near death experiencer Rabbi Alon Anava????

Hebrews 4:15

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in allpoints tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

  • The most ancient part of the soul of Rabbi Yeshua -Jesus was the Word / Logos from several ancient writings that the disciples knew of from their contact with the Essene Community.
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

True... and.....

The Personality of Mashiach

The Personality of Mashiach
By J. Immanuel Schochet

As a faithful shepherd he already cares so much about his people that he volunteered to suffer all kinds of agonies to assure that not a single Jew of all times will be lost.20

Mashiach shall meditate on the Torah21 and be preoccupied with mitzvot. He shall teach all the Jewish people and instruct them in the way of G‑d. He will prevail upon Israel to follow and observe the Torah, repair its breaches, and fight the battles of G‑d.22

Mashiach will reveal altogether new insights, making manifest the hidden mysteries of the Torah,23 to the point that “all the Torah learned in the present world will be vain compared to the Torah of Mashiach.”24

Though Mashiach comes first and foremost to Israel, all the nations will recognize his wisdom and sublimity and submit to his rule.25 He will guide and instruct them as well.26

There is no need for Mashiach to perform signs and wonders to prove himself.27Nonetheless, he will do so.28

Shalom,

I have been on the receiving end of conversations like these and they grieve my spirit. When I arrived at the synagogue spiritually bereft and running on empty, no one hammered me. Or bombarded me with scriptures and other proofs. I received a warm embrace and a cup of coffee and settled down with my peers to discuss the Parashah on Shabbat.

We took turns sharing our perspectives on the Torah portion and its impact. And our fellowship was peaceful. I discovered the meaning of oneness in that place and what it meant to be part of something greater than yourself. But in the heart of that lesson was love. So much love. And a lot of Hebrew. ;-)

I grew up in a neighborhood with a synagogue in every direction. I would encounter them wherever I went. I don't believe that's a coincidence. I think it was a roadmap of sorts that I returned to when I came to the end of myself.

On Rosh Hashanah we say, Avinu malkeinu. And I know He hears. HaShem remembers us. As I look around me at all the people standing and singing I am met by a grace I don't understand. Chesed it's called. Home is my response.

I write these words as a testament to what I was given and offer it in return. Love.

Todah Rabbah :)

Noahide Laws

WRITTEN BY: The Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica

Noahide Laws, also called Noachian Laws, a Jewish Talmudic designation for seven biblical laws given to Adam and to Noah before the revelation to Moses on Mt. Sinai and consequently binding on all mankind.

Beginning with Genesis 2:16, the Babylonian Talmud listed the first six commandments as prohibitions against idolatry, blasphemy, murder, adultery, and robbery and the positive command to establish courts of justice (with all that this implies). After the Flood a seventh commandment, given to Noah, forbade the eating of flesh cut from a living animal (Gen. 9:4). Though the number of laws was later increased to 30 with the addition of prohibitions against castration, sorcery, and other practices, the “seven laws,” with minor variations, retained their original status as authoritative commandments and as the source of other laws. As basic statutes safeguarding monotheism and guaranteeing proper ethical conduct in society, these laws provided a legal framework for alien residents in Jewish territory. Maimonides thus regarded anyone who observed these laws as one “assured of a portion in the world to come.” Throughout the ages scholars have viewed the Noahide Laws as a link between Judaism and Christianity, as universal norms of ethical conduct, as a basic concept in international law, or as a guarantee of fundamental human rights for all.

In the movement of Noahide (son of Noah)invented by Chabad Judaism, i.e. Rabbi Kaplan, to Gentiles Jesus Christ could be looked as a Mediator to Israeli God, but Jewish need not.

They quote:
Deut4:19 And when your eyes are lifted up to heaven, and you see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the army of heaven, do not let yourselves be moved to give them worship, or become the servants of what the Lord has given(Sent) equally to all peoples under heaven.

That means Jesus Christ could be sent for Gentiles, but should not be worshiped by them as one idol. In this way Monotheism could be kept. In the sight of Jewish, trinity is an extraordinary progress to Gentiles but an extraordinary backward motion to Jewish.

Just an opinion from Noahide insight.
