That misses the point altogether. There was Peter. There was Satan. Two entirely different parties. One was saved. The other not so muchSo even if Peter did temporarily slip under the influence of the devil’s thinking for a moment, it may not be considered the kind of sin that would condemn Peter to the Lake of Fire.
Pity to mix the two and even more pitiful to mistake one for the other. Scripture is unique in this way: It seems man and devil simultaneously, and speaks thusly. What applies to one does not and can not apply to the other.
God Loves mankind
God Hates devilkind
And does so simultaneously.
Both of the above would be standing in the shoes of every person. And we all mistakenly think it's just a person because that's all we see with our flesh eyes. But spiritually this was never the case. There is the person and there is the tempter or his own, within them.
So all this time we have read this:
John 3:16-18
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
In the above, both sides of this equation is fully true and fully applicable, even though spoken to only a person.
And to make this even more interesting, and before you quote that the devil believes, IF a liar says "I believe" THEN are they really telling the truth?
IF we say we love our neighbors as ourselves, does the evil present within us really love our neighbors? I'd say this is impossible in our current state. And God Himself made it impossible, on purpose
