The little family of birds seems to be very happy under your care dave...thumbsup.
:amen: to that!
 Shirley Sis'

I kept budgerigars, and also exhibition-sized budgerigars and cockatiels, many years ago
[in Bristol] in a purpose built shed and outdoor flight cage

From a few pairs, I expanded to over 300 birds before selling them on
prior-to, moving house and into the house that we, later purchased [mortgage]

So, I do have a 'deal' of experience, behind me

The nestboxes [some 20+ of them] were attached to the walls of the shed
just below the pitched roof, in fairly close proximity
The birds 'paired' themselves, and if they were 'territorial, at-all
it was limited-to, the nestbox, that they had chosen [found to be 'available']

Other bird species, can be much more territorial, than that [I concur]

Update:

All chicks have vacated the nestbox
We removed it [nestbox] yesterday....
As Charlie, is 'polishing-up his felicitations' ~to encourage Cher, to raise more chicks
This, is contrary to our wishes...
and we will remove Charlie, just as soon as the chicks become adept, at, taking seed and water themselves

Pics later

LOL 'no-chance' :p

Charlie now sits in a small cage all by himself

He had been seen 'throwing' the two remaining chicks from their perch
so that he can have the perch with Cher

Cher, now alone with the youngest two is feeding and preening them

Peace \o/

Alert ? mois ? absolute certainment!!! Finis!!!

Good observation skills

Thank you Gail Sis'

Life, has ways, of honing such "skills", to aid survival

If we need-to understand, 'anything'
we must.... familiarize ourselves, with that matter
for, to ignore some-thing ~ can be, at our peril / disadvantage
when, in-recall; there will be unrecorded gaps
in the otherwise helpfulness of memory

Yes Gail Sis'

We do have, TWO 'confirmed' homes, for the eldest two
and two, still 'to find homes for'

It will be some four to five weeks, before, the youngest become independant
and we will keep them until homes are found for them

Update:

I moved the two eldest chicks, into a cage [by themselves]
This, because of a growing 'resistance' [by them] to their climb onto our fingers
~they had shared a cage with Timmy [who, at one-time, was finger-tame himself]

Charlie, is now sharing a cage, with Timmy

Both of the youngest chicks, are feeding themselves [apparently successfully]
but we can occasionally hear, their plaintive pleas to be fed by Mummy

It is important [to us] that the chicks are 'finger-tame' when they are re-homed
so that they are, NEW-OWNER 'FRIENDLY'
as, this will [we feel] endear them to their new owners
and set them off. on a 'good start', in-life

pics... after ceramics

They are beautiful
Those two are really cute
and may become 'just like their Dad' [similar plumage] Shirley Sis'

They'll be 'ready-to-go' in about ten days

:)

dave

I hope that they go to a loving home and provide a lot of pleasure to their new owners.

Me too ~ it won't be long now! :)

Hi Dave
Thanks  After 10 days, it is good to be back...though it will be on a 'part time' basis.
We still have plenty of Fall chores to do; it seems our age has caught up to us and between 'pacing ourselves'/recovering from over-doing :sorry: and working with the weather, it is going slower than it used to ;)
The Lord has refocused my attention on CF, and I also want to continue with my prayer/spiritual reading :holy:

Back to your babies.....the new owners must be anxious!
I am sure it will be hard to see them go, but babies and owners will have many wonderful years together, with YOU to thank

Thanks for your prayers ~ God bless you and yours also

Hello Gail Sis'

Yes, I too 'encountered' the reduced abilities of age and health matters, during redecorating

We are about to get on with, the kitchen redecoration [2b 'ready' for, Christmas Holiday]
Everything to it's season and, in it's own time

I thank the Lord for all my gifts [past lessons]
The chicks have 'life' and are 'loved', our Lord has given these blessings

We are given each other :groupray: such 'accidents' are I'm possible :)

your Bro'
