  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

LightBearer: According to Jesus - of all those whom you have given me, none has been lost except that son of perdition.

Now - what does it mean when the Father has given a person to Jesus? And what does it mean when Jesus says that Judas has been lost? Could it be that Judas was lost without first having been in Jesus's posession? Or did someone other than Jesus lose him?

This is the will of the Father - that none shall be lost whom he has given me.

Does this passage say that none can or will be lost? Even without the direct evidence provided above, the answer still is clearly that the will of the Father can be thwarted. It is the Father's will that none shall die. Even the Old Testament declares as much.

If we are to say that God's will cannot be thwarted, it follows quite naturally that no-one is barred from heaven. But again, the first passage referred to quite clearly shows that the Father's will can be thwarted.
