First Holy Communion

My church had their First Holy Communion for the second graders today. I saw a clip of them on my churches’ site. They looked so cute. But what is the reasoning behind the girls dressing up like little brides? Are they a bride of Jesus?

I don’t really remember my First Communion (I THINK we had ours in first grade) except that my dad was nagging me about squinting in the sun while we were taking pictures. And then after getting the pictures back, guess who was squinting in the sun when he wasn’t behind the camera? My dad. LOL.

It is innocence, purity, and respect for the sacraments. That we s what the veil represents in first holy communion.
