In a new interview, a Catholic Cardinal who headed up one of the top Vatican offices says Joe Biden is “nominal” Catholic and should be excommunicated for supporting abortion.

Cardinal Gerhard Müller, who previously lead the Vatican’s highest doctrine office, called abortion “infanticide” and saying those politicians who actively support abortion like Biden should be “excommunicated.”

“The word ‘abortion’ is too much a soft word. The reality is killing, murder of a living person,” said Gerhard Cardinal Müller. “There’s no right to kill another person. It’s absolutely against the Fifth Commandment.”

Cardinal Müller likened the killing of the unborn and the elderly to the “Nazi” times, saying that “it’s absolutely unacceptable that you can say you are a Catholic and promote and justify killing of human persons, human beings [from] the beginning in the mother’s womb, until the last respiration [with] euthanasia… Killing of ill people, like in the Nazi times, is euthanasia.”

Biden is very public about his self-professed Catholic faith, but Cardinal Müller suggested that while Biden is “nominally a Catholic, in reality he is a Nihilist. It’s cynicism and absolute cynicism.”

Cardinal Muller is of course right. But it won't happen. Joe has already gone to see the pope and gotten the word to keep on as he has been doing. He has his papal platinum parchment. And cardinal Muller is an ex-doctrinal office head with zero actual say any more. Truth speaks to power but power ignores it.

"Excommunication" would hardly be more than a parking ticket to Mr. Biden. The crisis in the Church and the world is past that level - of a judgement of a faithful Cardinal here, or of a progressive duplicitous Cardinal there. We are past the rule of ecclesial Law, or any act of men. The College of Cardinals? What can it mean, when their opinions are as diverse as they are? Look at the pope they have given us. I am grateful for Cardinal Müller; I pray God bless him. But this issue - of Biden's disregard for Holy Truth, sacrilegious insult of Faith, of Church, of God Himself - will not be corrected by the institutional Church now so compromised and weak.

I believe the Cardinal to listen to now is Card. Burke - to hear his call into the on-going Novena of prayer to our Blessed Mother under her title of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The evil permeating the world and the Church of 2024 is of the level, and depth and breadth, of 1531 when she came among us and against the evil of that time. Card. Burke is right; he sees and understands the signs of these times, he rightly urges us to join in prayer to our Blessed Mother for her most powerful aid against the evil one. Our enemy is not threatened, Mr. Biden is not impressed by a paper full of words, no matter how grave the truth they hold. Biden, and many of our institutional hierarchy in the Church, live on the natural level; our enemy acts on the supernatural level; our victory requires supernatural power - even divine action. We, the Church, had better turn to GOD - and mean it! - GOD Who alone can save us. Mary, our Blessed Mother, can help us.
