Also laughing at Disn*y in their promotion of the remastered 'Let It Be' movie and calling it (paraphrasing) a joyful and glorious time after months and months of badmouthing it as horrible and depressing when promoting their 'Get Back' series a couple years back. No wonder we were rebellious back then and then gave up. Humans never change their manipulative and selfish ways.

You can’t hide the ugly. It always makes an appearance. So people try to call it something else that seems more palatable.

What is it about retirement that scares you, @Tuur ?
My family and my wife's tends to be long-lived. I fear running out of money before we die. Past performance is no indication of future results, so I could die at any moment. Still, my concern is us being in our upper nineties with only social security left. With our families' life span, reaching our upper nineties isn't out of the question. I'm holding on at work specifically to maximize social security payments. Yes, I have retirement through the company that's already capped out and that's as secure as anything else financial, but it's not infinite.

Not having much to do also bothers me. My wife has yard work planned for me. I'm reminded of a friend who retired, and when his wife did, too, he got another job.

Yesterday at work we had a tornado, as in at the office itself. Didn't touch down but the winds were impressive. The main cause of the big power outage was technically tornado related, but not like major damage. Won't bore anyone with the details, but it brought home changes in work, one good, the others not-so-much. This is all from a operational standpoint, not misplaced nostalgia.

I can't be the only one on here who feels like Heaven or New Earth (if you prefer) is somewhat pointless in a way. The basic point of it I keep hearing from everybody else is that everything we long for and hope to have solved down here wouldn't matter either way when we get there... from where I stand that would sound like God leaving unfinished business hanging without a proper closure.

There is some part about it that just sounds empty. If there was a really bad person that tormented me and did bad things to my family for decades, I'd rather live to see them go to jail for the rest of their existence and revel in that justice being served than go somewhere else.

Also like God just wants to test us and that everything we rave about being sin in this life is a fake illusion and not really the issue. "The issue isn't really the issue. The issue is the revolution."

Why can't there be more of a scenario like the tables turning and the oppressed peoples take something away from the wicked that tortured and persecuted them, so they give them a taste of their own medicine and make them feel how they did?

Gets into doctrinal issues. Will say that since our Judge is perfect, then so are His rulings.

What awaits may very well be incomprehensible. To borrow from C.S. Lewis, trying to explain something of adulthood to a young child might get a question like "But can I eat chocolate?" And, if we think about it, there are some things we enjoyed as a young child that means nothing to us as adults. We are promised that we will be with Christ, and I think that's going to be more wonderful than we can comprehend.

Oakmoss is on my mind. Oakmoss is a component in fragrances, such as some men's aftershave, and I like the aroma.

It's on my mind because I 've just swept some out of my truck bed. I had to cut up and haul away a fallen dead tree, and the bark was loose and covered in mosses and lichens. It will always be a smell of the outdoors to me, of repairing fences and hunting and cutting timber. Maybe that's why I like it.

When one sees the prosperity of the wicked,

One should say.........

"If it goes so well for those that anger Him,
how much better will it not be for those who serve Him."
