  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God. And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations...
“Therefore in Christ Jesus I have found reason for boasting in things pertaining to God. For I will not presume to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me, resulting in the obedience of the Gentiles by word and deed, in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the...
(...thinking about the New Jerusalem at the End of the Age) Psalm 87:1-3 (NKJV) 1 His foundation is in the holy mountains. 2 The Lord loves the gates of Zion More than all the dwellings of Jacob. 3 Glorious things are spoken of you, O city of God! Selah Glorious things are spoken of you, O...

Conscience is not a thermostat of personal moral preference, but a receiver that finds its true signal in the power and Word of God. As we draw closer to Him, our conscience is guided by the Holy Spirit's quiet voice, helping us tune out the static of self and the world so that we may more...
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this...
Psalm 84:5-10 (NKJV) 5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, Whose heart is set on pilgrimage. 6 As they pass through the Valley of Baca, They make it a spring; The rain also covers it with pools. 7 They go from strength to strength; Each one appears before God in Zion. 8 O Lord God of...
“Do all things without grumbling or disputing; so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of...
“For this reason it says, ‘Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you.’ “Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord...
“Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is...
“Five centuries later, the nailed parchment still asks the church: ‘Reforming back to Scripture, or revising to fit the age?’” Is the church called to update the gospel for each new generation, or to recover it when culture has drifted? In this short essay I examine the New Perspective on...
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live...
Hebrews 12:1-2 (NKJV) 12 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith...
“Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a...

The S&P 500 is about one percent from 6666. Following, I will share why that level has got my attention. Note that in my last blog entry I used a mix of spiritual and philosophical insght as to what might lie ahead. In this entry blog I am going to speculate sort of for fun on the S&P 500 and...

Every church movement, every local church, has their challenges. Left to purely human reasoning, there are things that can feel restricting, too slow to bloom to fruit—and dare we say it (?), too slow to conform to our expectations...however close our impatient convictions might accurately...
Have you ever felt like your own thoughts were a prison? Like the voice inside your head wasn’t really yours, but a cruel imitation? The Accuser Silenced by Blood “In reality the lock is on the inside, but the key is also on the inside: ‘He who is in you is greater than he who is in the...
I am now reading in Acts 9, some of which I will summarize, and some of which I will quote in the NASB1995. Saul, who later became the apostle Paul, was still on a rampage against the followers of Jesus Christ, and he was on his way to Damascus to persecute even more followers of The Way...
Becoming Like Little Children (Chapter Talk) When Jesus says we must become like little children to enter the kingdom of heaven, could He be revealing what we already are? We are children. What we call “mature adulthood” is often just a more sophisticated childishness: seeking control, always...
