Scientists may have found evidence of human activity, and flooding that happened on Mount Ararat, pointing to the flood which happened during Noah's time, dated to about 5500 BC to 3000 BC according to Popular Mechanics: Archaeologists Think They Might Have Found the Real Noah’s Ark

Woo, science and the Bible go well together. :) God willing, that more people realize that Christianity and researchers can go well together. Many early scientists from the 17th - 20th century were God-fearing individuals, including Galileo, Newton, Gregor Mendel, Georges Lemâitre and others.

Edit at 6:15 PM CST (This article is a repost by Popular Mechanics of a Daily Mail article. Shame that Daily Mail can disguise themselves in a science periodical. Daily Mail is a sensationalist junk news site run by a multimillionaire named Jonathan Harmsworth. Guess his company causes a lot of "harm" that isn't "worth" it to factual news by spreading news blown out of proportion)

"Human activity, however, does not a Biblical account prove. The Durupinar formation has been put forth as a potential ark resting place for many years, and has received extensive attention from those hoping to find Noah’s Ark. Despite the hype, archaeologists have consistently reaffirmed over the years that the formation is natural, not the result of a petrified shipwreck, and that there is no geologic record of a global flood like the one described in religious texts. Some believe that a more local flood may have been possible, but that is also debated."

The article is taken from a Daily Mail report. The Daily Mail specialises in sensationalised garbage alongside pictures of half-naked women. It's a well-known fact that if you read too much Daily Mail your brains turn into custard.

If you had read the whole article, you would have found this a little lower down:

The team says it isn’t currently possible to say that Noah’s Ark itself was at the Durupinar site.

You need to be a little more discriminating in your sources Alex.

I agree. The Daily Mail is sensationalism and is tabloid stuff, so I should have checked Popular Mechanics' sources. Sorry about this. Let this be a lesson to me and others, that even Popular Mechanics and other science magazines fall for the tabloids. No offense to the UK, but they basically got this tabloid stuff up and running. Luckily, the UK has the BBC. The much more trustworthy BBC kinda compensates for the country's tabloid junk.

I think the flood was local, and I offer that whole region being a desert now as only partial evidence.

But I do think that if people look at the archeological and geological records in that region for evidence of a much more local flood in that region, they will find plenty.

We know that whole region was very, very fertile at one point in time, etc.

Wheras it's not now, and that that happened rather quickly, etc.

God Bless.

It is my belief that it was meant to almost completely wipe out almost all of the original descendants of Adam and Eve, who settled in that region after Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden of Eden, etc. It is my belief that they were a specially created race, and maybe even perhaps species, from the rest, etc.

God Bless.

Well, I'm kind of ignoring the article altogether right now, etc.

Subject became the flood, and biblical accuracy, etc.

God Bless.

They were supposed to build a society or nation to rule over the rest, and not have sexual relations with them, because this has always been God the Spirit's plan that He was always trying to enact in the OT, etc, even after many, many "speedbumps" along the way, He was still trying, etc.

But after Jesus, He handed that plan over to Jesus, which is supposed to finally be brought forth, or will come into full fruition, when He comes back, etc.

In the meantime we all wait, etc.

God Bless.

And because society was broken, the flood happened. Society is a bit less broken, but seems to have issues still, as the effects of the original sin take hold in modern humans. So, what do you think about autism, as I have that? Is that from the fact our world is fallen, if we trace back everything to Adam & Eve?

Well, I've been diagnosed with Schizophrenia, so...

See a counselor once a month, etc.

But the flood mainly happened due to God the Holy Spirit's anger and heartache and disappointment and heartbreak, probably still left over from the original fall a little bit, but also over the possible inter-species sex that started happening between the original descendents of Adam and Eve, and maybe another, lesser species or race that was in the earth at that time, etc.

Yet again God the Holy Spirit's original plans were being mucked up or fouled with or messed up by the disobedience of His other beings, etc.

It would become a continual repeating story or trend all along the way, etc.

God Bless.

We all have something. But yeah, nothing changed for nearly 4000 years until Jesus rose from the dead.

I agree. But this article was reposted from a tabloid by a science magazine.
Popular Mechanics is borderline as a reputable science magazine.

By the way - there is scientific consensus that there was no worldwide flood 6000 years ago. A Noah type flood was first disproved a couple of centuries ago when geological science got started. Current scientific evidence agrees with this view which is also shared by most Christian scientists. There may have been some significant local flooding.

Marine fossils on mountain tops are not unusual. They get there when interaction between tectonic plates causes massive uplift at the plate junctions. If the area uplifted was once an ocean floor, then marine fossils end up at the top of mountains.

Many early scientists from the 17th - 20th century were God-fearing individuals, including Galileo, Newton, Gregor Mendel, Georges Lemâitre and others.

Newton had 'unorthodox' Christian views. He was also said to be into the occult. Most (Western) people of the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries were Christian - not just scientists. Alternative views were rare and socially or legally risky. It was probably the scientific boom in the late 19th and 20th centuries which called literal aspects of the Bible into question. In turn this opened up the acceptability of non-belief.

Most likely, the floods were localized to small areas in the Middle East, and due to the changing climates at the end of the glaciation period around 10,000 years ago. Any newer floods would have also been localized.

If this (above) is what you believe why did you start a thread (below) about 'evidence' for Noah's Ark and a Noah type flood?

I started it to show that it is possible for the Bible to be supported by science.

Scientific evidence totally rejects the idea of a global flood, the practicality of a biblical Ark and the death of all humans and animals, apart from those in the Ark.

I'm not sure which aspects of the Bible story you think are supported by your article.
