What are your thoughts on what is seriously (most) wrong in our country
Many Americans do not fear the Lord.
Many who once knew to fear Him, and did, no longer do.

I used to believe in God, but I never "feared" him. Many Americans do not fear the Lord.
Many who once knew to fear Him, and did, no longer do.
How does one get so confused on facts? How will a country on the edge of default pay for all of the desired free stuff? Your perception of what conservatives want is largely flawed. Liberalism is the main reason for the mess we are in not the cure. I counted 7 I wants in the post that is part of the problem. No plan on how to pay for it just a bunch of I want free stuff. Remember John Kennedy’s famous words! “Ask not……….”Conservatism wants to “conserve” a way of life that died decades ago.
I want to move forward. I want universal, single payer healthcare for all. I want affordable childcare. Universal maternity leave. Better yet, parental leave. I want to preserve funding for social programs including welfare, Medicare, and social security. I want affordable to free college. I want to ease immigration hurtles like we had when my ancestors came over. I want a country that is the best, not what conservatives want.
Nothing, I just stopped finding the stories of his existence believable. What did God do to let you down?
No. I don't find that loving anyway. He gave His only Son! Was that not enough to show His love for you?

You will, once you know Him well.I used to believe in God, but I never "feared" him.
I doubt that. The various gods do not bother me in the slightest. I never "knew" god even when I believed. It is hard to "know" a being that doesn't communicate with you.You will, once you know Him well.
I'm sorry you live in fear of the existential.I fear Him greatly myself. I've had experiences that show me that He is definitely fear worthy (not sure most people would understand even if I told them)
3 degrees isn't that cold, you should wear a scarf though, it helps.but here issomething everyone understands:
Has the weather ever been extreme where you live? I am sure it has. Even in sunny FL, there are hurricanes, e tc.
One time in this one state I used to live in, it got down to something like 3 degrees and as I was shivering my behind off, just walking from car to store, with the wind whipping my already cold face,
Are you claiming that the cold you were angry about was the punishment for your anger? I don't even think the divine beings have causality that works backward. Anyway, the cold wasn't caused by your anger, nor is any weather caused by your "sin". That's just not how the weather works. (I have an advantage in that I actually studied it in college.)I spontaneously asked God (yes, in anger)
Why do you do this to people?!
I don't think He got ticked at me. There was no lightening strike.. probably because God figured the cold was enough punishment... laugh
Also, He knew it was a valid question... LOL
In all seriousness, I wonder how many doubt the existence of God, but accept the concepts of dark matter and string theory.Nothing, I just stopped finding the stories of his existence believable.
By Christian theology (yes, I know you reject it, but bear with me), God the Son is part of the Trinity. Jesus made the statement that anyone who's seen Him has seen the Father. God gave His only begotten Son and also gave Himself. Someone who love their family may willing give their life for them; some who love their friends may do the same. Yet God the Son gave His life for those who were still His enemies. That is indeed love, whether it's accepted or not.No. I don't find that loving anyway.
The effects of dark matter are well evidenced and observed. String theory is a series of mathematical fantasies masquerading as physics. Doubt isn't the word I'd use.In all seriousness, I wonder how many doubt the existence of God, but accept the concepts of dark matter and string theory.
I still don't find this loving, or logically coherent.By Christian theology (yes, I know you reject it, but bear with me), God the Son is part of the Trinity. Dark matter smells like a fidge factor, and recently came across a theory that if the universe is much older than we thought, then dark matter isn't needed to balance the books. The effects of dark matter are well evidenced and observed. String theory is a series of mathematical fantasies masquerading as physics. Doubt isn't the word I'd use.
Obviously.I still don't find this loving, or logically coherent.
I think I know the "theory" you are talking about. I did a few posts on it in the appropriate section of CF. I don't think the author of that paper had the slightest clue on how his model would actually impact astronomical observations.Dark matter smells like a fidge factor, and recently came across a theory that if the universe is much older than we thought, then dark matter isn't needed to balance the books.
String theory isn't a patch on existing models, but a radical restructuring of physics in the hopes that current physics will just "pop out" and also unify other stuff. It is largely a failure.String theory is string theory. Was about to say it was all I could say about that, but even more than dark matter, it seems a patch on the existing model of the universe.
Perhaps, but I also worry that an obsession with "elegant" occludes the resolution of problems. (It lead to string theory after all.)What I suspect is there may be something radically different, and if it's ever discovered, it will be a more elegant model.

I really liked this. How does one get so confused on facts? How will a country on the edge of default pay for all of the desired free stuff? One would think common sense could prevail on this forum but it is obvious for some it cannot.I really liked this.
Liberalism is indeed the problem. There is no free lunch, that poster needs to hear. That's an old saying, which is probably why few seem to ever quote it. Old is bad, new is good. Really?
I have seen automation FAIL miserably over and over in my life... from automated sinks at W-mart to automated tellers in same place.
Human beings are starting to look better the more I use automation. And yet there is this push to be new and modern, which of course means people are going to be replaced and then when they cn't find work, they will be seen as candidates for euthanasia. If people think that is not happening, they have not been paying attention.
I sense great arrogance..

so are u saying u have common sense but most of the others here do not?One would think common sense could prevail on this forum but it is obvious for some it cannot.
You should get your sensors checked. I made no such assumption about you. What I said is that I have actually studied how the weather works. I have a degree in meteorology. The number of people who get degrees in that subject is fairly small. It would be weird to assume that you had one as well.I sense great arrogance.
You assume I have no college behind me? Arrogant...
Perhaps it would have been clearer if I has written "the (existing) cold was (sufficient) punishment". I did actually comment on the order of things in my post. And no, I was not assuming the cold was punishment for my anger. if you will read carefully, the cold came BEFORE my anger.
The funny thing is mr. combobulated, I wasn't in a conversation with you. I had exchanged messages with others and you decided it was time to tell me that I would fear your god, which I took as an empty threat. If you understood that perhaps you would have better conversations with those that don't agree with your ideas or beliefs. And then there's this: I don't relish long conversations or even short ones with atheists. It just never goes well... Gee, I wonder why?
We are not pulling an oxcart together or walking anywhere and your "Word" means absolutely nothing to me.The Word says not to be unequally yoked w/ unbelievers... also says
how can 2 who disagree walk together?
Taxes. Everyone has wants, even you. The government works for me and you.How does one get so confused on facts? How will a country on the edge of default pay for all of the desired free stuff?
