I have been studying Orthodoxy and theosis rather in depth lately as I am somewhat interested in joining the Orthodox Church.
I found it interesting that Lutherans have a doctrine similar to theosis called Mystical Union:

Protestantism has the doctrine too, mostly coming from the holiness movement but in a truncated form. Two stages instead of three in EO and RCC. The EO understands it further as healing which l agree with. Not a process of healing, but actual full healing taking place in the soul for this is why sin occurs.
To say that it is just a process without a result is to agree with the other churches understanding of gradual sanctification.
