I remember my old Presbyterian pastor mentioning Archbishop Tutu in a sermon. While he remarked he didn't always agree with his theology (he didn't elaborate), he did comment that a defining moment in the Archbishop's life was a small gesture - a passing white man, a priest, doffed his hat to Desmond Tutu's mother when he was a child in apartheid South Africa.

DESMOND MPILO TUTU (7 OCTOBER 1931 – 26 DECEMBER 2021): The dauntless priest whose humanity ignited the courage of a boy who would become Archbishop Tutu

Father Huddleston passed into a higher place in 1998, but he and the Archbishop have most likely greeted each other again.

Sometimes a small spark can light an enduring fire in a person's life.
