Hi,

This is a well known verse:

So I have been thinking sometimes it is not so clear what these abstract words means exactly in some cases:
true, noble, just, pure, lovely, good report, virtue, praiseworthy.

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

Br,

The church needs to flee from political and religious division and strife. And they need to flee from desiring wealth or to control and possess America. They need to seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness through Jesus Christ alone.

Teachers are blind in these last days, in my understanding. Obey the apostles and Jesus in scripture and avoid political and religious debate, contention, division, gossip, slander, judging without mercy, pride, and vanity.

Flee from political or worldly lusts, complaints, discontent, fears, worries, concerns, suspicions and conspiracy theories.

judging without mercy, well can we openly say that some lifestyles are just demonic, like for example fornication, lgbtq, abortion, or should we pander to the emotions of people ?

No sin is good. Including economic and monetary fears, complaints, worries, concerns and lusts. Wealth, beauty, pride and vanity are unholy and ungodly. The apostle John said that hate is murder. He said greed is hate.

But no one talks about hate, greed, contention, and bitterness over the economy. This is worldly thinking and it's spiritual adultery and people are blind to it. It's ok to point fingers at abortion and sexual fornication however.

Jesus is our example of these things.

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:4-7

You can't be at peace if you are consumed by anger. You can't see the beauty if you only gaze into the abyss.

Deal with yourself, the only person you can change. As for the rest do as Jesus and the Father commanded, love them as self for we are all sinners and in the same boat, self justifying ourselves as we often put our will ahead of the will of God on a daily basis, re-committing the original sin. Even the seeds we sow are cast about and will fall where they may. It is not up to us to determine how or if they grow.

One way I get this is >

Not only true, but noble. Something can be the truth without being noble.

Not just just, but also pure. There can be justice, but it is impure because of hate and unforgiveness being the motive.

Lovely, yes, but in the way that is of good report. A prostitute can be lovely, but - - - - -

And Psul is saying to have virtue, but in a praiseworthy way. Virtue can mean ability, and of course ability is not always praiseworthy. We can do what is good by virtue of honesty. But someone can win an argument by virtue of a dominating spirit, caring only about one's own self.

So, thinking on these things is not only thinking about them, but thinking with intention and commitment of trusting and depending on God for us to discover how these things grow and mature.

So, we discover the best meaning of these words, in sharing with one another in God's love.

We are all sinner true, what we must not do is deny something is a sin, we should confess our sins.

Yes, Sin is nothing more than putting our will ahead of the will of God. In others words putting self interest first. A simple confession indeed, and easy to try and rectify, not just seek forgiveness for.
