Yes, and they also made a distinction between Christianity and design theory. The verdict was not based on their religious fanaticism. If they taught natural evolution and at the same time were religious fanatics on their own time, there wouldn't be an issue.
And butter wouldn't melt in their mouths, as my Grandma used to say, Of course, they were wanting to teach this "absolutely-not-Christianity" using fake science, which makes the whole business smell pretty fishy,. Evolution is taught in Catholic school science classes, but they won't teach ID, because it's not science.

If bronzed shoes can spark a bronze age, think what a peccary tooth can do.

Scientists don't need a boatload of evidence to push their ideas on us.
That's fine. You seem to be able to push back without any evidence at all.

Does the average lay person understand it?

If so, why pay thousands of dollars to learn it in an academic setting?
I'm sure you understand how an internal combustion engine works, but if you want a real job in the automotive industry you had better get some training first.

Otherwise, the mechanics in the automotive industry will assume I'm just a lay person who doesn't fully understand it.

Right?

Theistic, secular, guided, or punctuated?
Secular. "Theistic" makes no difference as to how the science is taught. "Punctuated" is part of "secular" and "guided" is regarded as a sorry attempt at a patch-up for inadequate Protestant theology.

A reasonable assumption when hiring entry-level technicians.

Does Saint Rosalia, patron saint of evolutionary studies, approve of this?

Then why should I listen to Internet evolutionists tell me what the deal is, when even their own won't hire them?

Some of the "internet evolutionists" here are actually trained and working in the subject, or elated fields. But the discussion is basically at the layman's level, both as regards science and religion.

Then who are the others?

You know ... the ones who have the gall to tell us the Bible is wrong?

Are they the ones sent out to draw us in, so the "trained workers" can fully indoctrinate us?

You can laugh at this all you want.

But don't overlook the point I made.

There's a reference somewhere about carousing with gullible words in a pool of quicksand, isn't there ?

Uh ... I don't know.

Never heard that before.

Only those for whom God the Creator or Jesus Reveals the meaning.
Most of the worldlings/earthlings are not granted understanding , for reasons as God Himself Says Clearly in Scripture.
Yes, that's true. At the time Jesus spoke the parables, the meanings were hidden from people like the pharisees. But even His disciples had to ask what they meant, and Jesus explained it to them. They were the ones interested in the explanations to ask. With the bible, anyone can read the parables along with the explanations. So they may never believe, but they should at least understand what the parables meant as the explanation is given to them in writing.

But in spite of that, they cannot believe unless God reveals Himself to them.

I don't know if it was or not. Doesn't matter to the message. But there is evidence of a great flood in the Middle East at about the right time.
There's definitely a message, but it implies a real event. Either it's a message centered around a real event, or it's something like an Aesop's fable.

If the fables of Aesop were told to me by God, I would take them seriously, regardless if I could find out whether they were centered around a real event or not.

I don't think that Jesus would have used parables, if they were merely "something like an Aesop's fable."

I said, if not you then many others. It happens frequently even in this forum which is heavily moderated against it and one of the reasons I don't put my faith in my profile.

Yes, I remember your link from another thread, and have read it. And I agree with it.

It doesn't solve the problem I'm having with the word literal (which was the word I questioned in that other thread).

So I'll say this. I believe the entire bible is inerrant. And then go from there.
