English Standard Version, 1 John 3:

Interesting that this is taken from John… as John defines the very “Sin” of this world as “Unbelief”. Another interesting verse from John is found in 1 John 1:8-10

Correction: A sin is ok if not practiced
I suspect tongue in cheek, here, but I’m biting for fun…

Gotta be honest here… The sermon on the mount makes it clear that the old “Sins of Omission” and “Sins of Commission” discussion is irrelevant. Jesus takes Murder and makes it about hate. He then takes adultery and turns it into the mere act of “looking with lust”.

To be direct… Jesus made sin a matter of the heart, and not only never promoted sin, but amplified sin.

Paul goes on to explain that this is so we all recognize our obliterated concept of “not sinning”. The Law amplifies our knowledge of needing Jesus.

Galatians is a super good book to bring into this discussion, IMO.
