Elijah does come, and he will restore all things

Peter, James, and John saw Moses and Elijah at the transfiguration in Matt 17:

9 And as they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, “Tell no one the vision, until the Son of Man is raised from the dead.” 10 And the disciples asked him, “Then why do the scribes say that first Elijah must come?” 11 He answered, “Elijah does come, and he will restore all things.

What all things will Elijah restore?

All things pertaining to the Jews. More generally, Berean Standard Bible, Acts 3:

21 Heaven must take [Jesus] in until the time comes for the restoration of all things, which God announced long ago through His holy prophets.

Elijah will come again to restore all things pertaining to the Jews, and then Jesus will come to restore all things in the heavens and earth.
