Do Wives Always Have to Say Yes to Sex?

In my experience, "physical intimacy" for women is not so simply also known as sex. In my experience, women cherish a lot of physical intimacy without sex necessarily being involved.

I use the term "intimacy" as much as I can because I think the term "sex" is too biological and often overused. But sure, I recognize various levels of intimacy, some of which does not involve intercourse.

I don't know if you are trying to be silly here, just to avoid the obvious. The passage is speaking of not withholding the body from the marital act. Neither husband nor wife should do this. This is clear.
That has also been the subject of the conversation.

However, if you just mean other kinds of physical affection, then it would indeed be selfish to withhold from that too. However, women indeed want much more than foot massages. A husband should care for his wife's needs and satisfaction!

Strangely though, in a feminist secular culture, no one gets up in arms when a Christian says a husband should always care for the physical pleasure of his wife (and I say that). They ONLY get up in arms when you say a wife must care for the physical pleasure of her husband (which I also say).

That inconsistency in getting offended should tell you there is an unfair bias there. It is AGAINST the Christ figure's strength, and hence also against Christ. When you attack the husband, you attack Christ.

Thank God my wife has always been ready or could get ready, we've pulled off the side of a busy interstate and run up in the woods with a blanket, under the house in the mud, on the beach at night, back porch, cars ,broke a couple beds down and now that Viagra is the real deal .. I've worked with guys and just shook my head listening to them talk about their wives cutting them off .. My wife did go through depression for a while and she lost interest in every thing but she got over it with the Lords help and we were right back in the saddle again .. What-a-Woman, What-a-Wife and anything she wants I get it for her if I can .. Proverbs 12:4

I’m curious about what would happen should these wives have something that limits their ability to have sex on command, like health issues. Is it up to her to figure out how to make sex on the side of an interstate work anyway because her husband apparently needs then and there, or is that the point where he gives a little bit and starts thinking that maybe he has another person to consider in this whole sexual dynamic...?

I'm curious as to what would happen if they came home from the honeymoon to the statement "I love you, but I wish sex would just go away;" or get the challenge "I went 10 years with NOTHING before we got married, and can go another 10 starting right now. Can you?"

Would those guys be true to their wedding vows and stick with it?

I think that’s where I luck out. My husband and are the world record holders for most amount of “intimacy” in a 24 hour period. For the first, what, 7 years? We averaged 5-7 times a week. Then I got sick and everything changed quite literally overnight. We are still intimate what is apparently more than most, but there is a whole level of bonding and growth and happiness and security that came with having less than what was typical for us sex which was wholly unexpected. There’s something amazing and uniting about saying you can’t do something and having your partner hold you (literaterally and figuratively), say it’s ok, and loving you as much and more anyway. That is a potential hidden magical moment of trials that ends up being worth so much more.

Not even close. A good friend of mine and his wife (for about 5 years when he worked close to home) averaged 5-7 a DAY. Then he got a different job and she started attending med school.

There’s something amazing and uniting about saying you can’t do something and having your partner hold you (literally and figuratively), say it’s ok, and loving you as much and more anyway.

And there is something equally amazing (but not uniting) about having your partner hold you close, and as soon as arousal becomes evident, getting pushed away HARD and called "Pervert!"

But do wives? No. There is no such biblical mandate.
