460 The Word became flesh to make us "partakers of the divine nature":78 "For this is why the Word became man, and the Son of God became the Son of man: so that man, by entering into communion with the Word and thus receiving divine sonship, might become a son of God."79 "For the Son of God became man so that we might become God."80 "The only-begotten Son of God, wanting to make us sharers in his divinity, assumed our nature, so that he, made man, might make men gods."81

What does the Catechism mean that we may become God and that Jesus will make men Gods?

It's also called theosis or divinization. We are destined to become so much like God that our wills, our affections, and our lives are consumed by God's own light and goodness. It's like a coal which burns because it's in the fire.

God wants us to be in this process throughout our earthly lives, by acquiring perfection. The divinization of the soul is complete when she attains the beatific vision in heaven - when she sees God, and she is perfectly united to Him.
