You may have heard many versions of the Gospel, but is it the true Gospel of Jesus Christ?

Some "Gospels" are flawed, or they are incomplete. You might get a partial Gospel about the benefits you can get from God. God gives you stuff and makes you feel good. In its extreme it's called the prosperity gospel. But God ain't a Santa Claus, and the Gospel isn't a retirement plan.

Oh, it SHOULD be a retirement plan, as when we enter into His rest, "For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his." (Hebrews 4:10), but it's an ACTIVE retirement plan, and an interactive one as well.- God and us in fellowship, continually.

Sin must be taken seriously, or we cheapen grace. Better count the cost, because the LORD paid your sin debt in full, and that was at great cost: the suffering, the crucifixion, and the death of Jesus Christs, God's own Son.

2 Corinthians 55:21, "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."
His righteousness becomes ours, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. Let that get down in your soul. That we can be made righteous in Him! HalleluYAH!

You cannot love God and love sin. You are purified and at liberty to follow God, not to sin: that is, it's not a license to sin, but a liberty to be free from it. So if you're still lovin' sin you ain't lovin' God. Get mad if you want, but don't shoot the messenger - I'm only sayin' what the Holy Scriptures say.

You cannot serve God and Mammon (Matt. 6:24); you cannot serve Christ and Belial (2 Cor. 6:15). Light don't fellowship with darkness. Either the light drives darkness away, or darkness remains only when there is an absence of light. Ponder that a moment. Light and darkness cannot dwell in the same place. Something in the way of a light in the room can cause a shadow, a partial darkness, and even there you should see, don't let anything block the light of Christ.

1 John 1 :5-7,
"This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin."

And beware of worldly sorrow. Worldly sorrow is hopeless, selfish, temporary, and the Bible says it's deadly. 2 Corinthians 7:10, "For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death." Big difference. Godly sorrow is hopeful, rejoices, is joyful, and truly despises the sin that caused the sorrow in the first place.

Godly sorrow hates and despises the sin that ruled you; it does not long for it, or think how good it was, or have a fond memory of it. Truth is that sin wasn't good for you at all, and if your soul don't hate that sin your soul ain't right with God, and in such a place I'd be wrestling and pressing in with the LORD in Spirit and in Truth, and seeking His deliverance, that He put an heart of flesh in you to replace that stony heart.

Ezekiel 32:26,
" A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh."

We need to get the true Gospel, the genuine Gospel: the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ in us by the Holy Spirit, that He live through us as His vessel for His use. "Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer." (Proverbs 25:4)

Romans 6:12-13,
"Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God."

Yield yourselves unto God: let His life make you alive, as it is written, as those that are alive from the dead, and yield your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. There is so much packed right in that little passage. the Bible is full of jewels and gems, and precious gold nuggets, if we would only take the time to seek God in His Word.

Romans 8:5-6,
"For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace."

The true Gospel is that Christ came to save sinners, and we all have sinned, and the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Repent and believe this Gospel, turn from your sin and be born again by His Spirit. Cast off the useless works of the flesh. Deny yourself the pleasures of sin for a season, which is not convenient, but rather seek the face of the LORD God in Christ Jesus who is more than capable of setting you free from the bondage of sin.

He is alive: Jesus is risen and seated at the right hand of the Father, and there He makes intercession for you if you will confess your sins, and surrender unto Him. His love will fill your heart that you may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, yea, and also the fellowship of His sufferings. It's not all cake walk. But we can have joy in this life, and in the end, eternal life.

There is only one gospel. Gal 1
We need to get the true Gospel, the genuine Gospel: the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ in us by the Holy Spirit, that He live through us as His vessel for His use.
You were dead in sins but God made you alive in Christ Jesus. Eph 2
Romans 6:12-13, "Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Coming to Him the Living Stone; 1 Peter 2:4-6
The true Gospel is that Christ came to save sinners, and we all have sinned, and the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Repent and believe this Gospel, turn from your sin and be born again by His Spirit. Cast off the useless works of the flesh.
That so easily entangles. And run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith. Heb12:1-3
He is alive: Jesus is risen and seated at the right hand of the Father, and there He makes intercession ...
Therefore He is also able to save forever (completely, perfectly, to the uttermost) those who come to God through Him, Heb 7:25

The gospel message is the "good news" of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) and is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes.. (Romans 1:16) To "believe" the gospel is to trust in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ as the ALL-sufficient means of our salvation.

Examples of false gospels below:

Salvation is by grace through faith + works.
Salvation is "initially" by grace through faith apart from works, then after that, salvation is "maintained" by works.
Salvation is by grace through faith + sinless perfection.
Salvation is by grace plus law, faith plus works.

True, if anyone is + ing those things to the gospel. However, "believe" is an active word that includes action as well as belief in the mind & heart. Romans 10:10 - with the heart man believeth unto righteousness. True righteousness and holiness will follow, as 2 Corinthians 5:17 puts it, old things will pass away and all things become new. No new creature = no true salvation, but a false salvation and hence a false gospel.

Romans 1:6 "believeth" = "pisteou,"

  1. used in the NT of the conviction and trust to which a man is impelled by a certain inner and higher prerogative and law of soul
  2. to trust in Jesus or God as able to aid either in obtaining or in doing something: saving faith

trust in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ as the ALL-sufficient means of our salvation.

Yes, that is the foundation of saving faith right there. But saving faith will produce works, or fruits. It's not "maintained by works" nor do works in any way enhance or secure salvation. But as James writes, faith without works is dead, and, James 1:22, "But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves." James 2:19, "Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble."

Here in James the same word for believest is used, but with the shallower meaning: "mere acknowledgment of some fact or event: intellectual faith" Which kicks us back to Romans 10:10, "For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." The heart, and not the intellect only.

Part of believing is repentance. As Luke 13:3 & 5 says, except ye repent ye shall all likewise perish. And without holiness no one shall see the Lord - Hebrews 12:14

As for sinless perfection, that is a misnomer since the sin nature will not be destroyed till the glorification of the body. But one is commanded to strive to be ye perfect, even if they do not attain, as Paul wrote to the Philippians that he had yet to attain but he continued to press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

To the unbelieving we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to believers the aroma of life leading to life. 2 Corinthians 2:15-17

Not that we are sufficient of ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant,
2 Corinthians 3:4-6

If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, [Phil 4:19] that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:11
