Here is a video explaining a new way of looking at scripture. The guy that came up with it was a hip hop artist before.he became a Christian. He calls it photo theology. It grew out of his spontaneous way of looking at things, taking mental pictures and then having to come up with original ways of expressing himself.

He looks at scripture in 5 different ways. 1.The written scripture. 2. How Jesus fits into it. 3. How it affects us as people. 4.How it affects the church. 5. Heavenly

I have learned more about Bible study listening to a couple of His sermons than I have learned in the last 30 years.

Hey, just saying my brother, but the title of your OP "Ping HIM" is a little vague. Can you elaborate on that? Pinging someone typically means to send a message, or ask a question, typically on an electronic media app. Whom shall we ping?

There is nothing new about this list of 5 ways, it's just using different words for the same traditional readings, if I understand it correctly. However, there is a lot missing from it.
1. "The written scripture" - is extremely vague. I didn't watch the video, so I don't know the context of this phrase. If he means to use accepted and scholarly rules of hermenuetics for interpreting the text of scripture, then I agree, and is IMO the only way to interpret scripture.
2. How Jesus fits into it - this is part of hermeneutics, since Jesus was prophesied in the OT scripture.
3 & 4. How scripture affects people and the church is called application. First you must correctly interpret scripture, then you can apply it to yourself and others.
5. Heavenly - this is also vague. 2 Cor. 4 says we should look to things unseen, and Heb. 11 says we should consider ourselves citizens of God's kingdom, with an eternal future in it. If he is talking about the scripture being spiritual and future, then he is correct about that, but then that is also basic hermeneutics.

So then, this isn't "5 new ways" of looking at scripture after all, unless he is talking to people who are ignorant of how to correctly interpret the Bible. If so, then I guess he's doing some good.

So without watching the video and know what Ivor actually means you know there is nothing new in what Ivor is doing.

Ivor Myers is the pastor of The Living Manna First Online Seventh-day Adventist Church, a virtual congregation in the Atlantic Union
So? An Adventist is far more likely to recommend an Adventist pastor than a non Adventist.

I like Pastor Myer- read his testimony - he has an incredible story- he never heard of Adventism was a signed hip-hop artist from Jamaica in the group Boogie Monsters living in NY and gave it all up and became an Adventist Christian and later a Pastor by studying the bible. I became aware of him several years ago through this series which I can't recommend enough.

I saw part of it, and decided not to continue because it's a typical religious talk show. I evaluated what YOU said he was doing.

Hey if it works. Never been much for sermons outside of church. Actually not a big sermon fan at all even in church. Don't get me wrong they have their place and are useful in teaching. But I prefer a more interactive service. When the service is an hour to two long and an hour or more is a sermon I think we miss the mark in what a worship service is to be about.

I' pinged you because of the way he studies scripture, not because of his sermons although I have learned a bunch from them.

I didn't post a link to a sermon of his but an interview in which he explains his method of reading scripture.
