Doesn't make any sense to me. Previous incumbent Republicans have run basically unopposed too, so I don't see where you're coming from.

Sadly, the other Republican choices didn't go anywhere. I voted for Nikki Haley in the primary, but she didn't really stand a chance.

Also populism, extremism and celebrity politics are problems.

No kidding. I suggest the obvious number 1 thing that is wrong in America is the cult of Donald Trump. What a coincidence that this was omitted from the list.

3-6, and extreme tribalism. Social media and biased media sources that encourages isolating in a bubble that feeds only what we want to hear and believing that to be the truth.

The nation is the world. It's not the church and can't be.

Not in 2020. No serious candidates challenged Trump when he was president. There is almost no precedent for a former president running for the office again after losing.

Corruption. The government being "in bed" with big corporations, the military industrial complex, the ability to buy political influence, lobbying etc.

But how can it be? Liberalism as manifest in today’s government is the problem in our country today. No question! It is not conservative principles that is causing riots in our colleges, run away inflation just to name two. We could name many more.

Well, it was an insurrection, an attack. These verses are a good guide for all of us, including myself.

Ephesians 4:25 (ESV): "Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another."

Isaiah 8:11-15 (ESV): "For the Lord spoke thus to me with his strong hand upon me, and warned me not to walk in the way of this people, saying: ‘Do not call conspiracy all that this people calls conspiracy, and do not fear what they fear, nor be in dread. I can't either, but I can think of MAGA ideals that lead to the deaths of hundreds of thousands during Corona times. Seems that the state counties in the left, the center left, or center right had the least amount of deaths compared to the hard-line Trump supporting state counties.

Those are not the only issues with our country. Closing off an opposing position is a one sided conversation. We wouldn’t have liberalism if conservatism was perfect and the ultimate answer.

First let me say liberalism of today is not the same as its was a few years back . Liberalism as manifest in today’s political climate is anti constitution. It is not just an alternate view it is sinister in its goals. It is not conservatism that uses the judicial system to eliminate a political opponent. It is not conservatism that ignores the invasion from our borders. It is not conservatism that is spending us into oblivion. It is not conservatism promoting the killing of babies in the womb, the stripping of the 2nd amendment, ignoring laws on the books, ignoring Supreme Court rulings and on and on. You may notice I did not use the labels Democrat or Republican. There are liberal Republicans as well. Liberalism is a cancer on freedom and is only concerned with gaining and maintaining power by any means necessary.

Conservatism wants to “conserve” a way of life that died decades ago.

I want to move forward. I want universal, single payer healthcare for all. I want affordable childcare. Universal maternity leave. Better yet, parental leave. I want to preserve funding for social programs including welfare, Medicare, and social security. I want affordable to free college. I want to ease immigration hurtles like we had when my ancestors came over. I want a country that is the best, not what conservatives want.
