ants!

We had a few bad times and Mama always used Baking Soda. Sprinkle outside of doors and crack in brick or stone. They will avoid or kill the nest.
She keeps cinnamon sticks too in the kitchen. I don't know if that works or she likes the smell.

Black ants are horrible. The worst bite! I use bait traps. I don't remember the name but they are white. They work well but they can be dangerous. One of my ferals chewed on one and died so put them under something. I have none this year. They say they take the poison back to their nest. I also pour bleach in their holes which slows them down.

One suggestion online is equal parts vinegar and water. Wonder if that works.

I battled ants at our home for a couple of years. Not so bad this year but I always stay proactive and keep on the alert. Vinegar and water won't kill them but they don't like it.....it also knocks out the scent they leave behind on trails to show other ants where to go. Also especially with the small brown or redish ants ....would see them in mass or in a pile by the hundreds in my driveway. Always wondered why they do that. Apparently internet says its two colony of ants have a truff war. I'd boil some water fast and quick and pour it on them. They learn fast and quick living in my vicinity isn't a good place to be. I also used the white small puck looking things made of steel. I suppose they have worked as well. As I say no real problem this year. Don't be too discouraged about it though....there's lots of things you can do to win the war against them.

I use diatomaceous earth and then went I need to get rough Advion ant gel.

Very toxic, wear gloves and be careful no pets can get to it. But it works.

I also use Terro.

It depends where they are.

Easy. Mix together some white sugar and baking soda. Mix it good and draw a circle outside of your house around your house with it.

The sugar will attract them from all over your yard and the baking soda kills them. So it will go from a lot of ants to no ants at all pretty fast then use the hose to wash away whats left. Done. It works.

In a spray bottle! Boom. That mixture will kill and repel many many different insects and stuff. I have some on the shelf right now, lol.

Is anybodys Gnats in the kitchen problem getting worse?

They lay their eggs in the water of your Ptrap drain. So every few days run some pure hot water down it until it has to be hot and then shut off the water and pour one cup of bleach into the drain and dont use the drain for some hours. It kills the eggs and your alcohol/water in a spray bottle mixture kills the live ones.

There are so many ants in my house now....ugh

I would add use 30% vinegar not the 5% one get at local grocery store. and wear a mask while spraying

Terro brand liquid ant bait. May take a few days, but works in my house.

Cinnamon gets rid of them. Don't know why, but it does. Also they have ant traps that somehow will get rid of them.

Ants, like people, die if they have an unlimited supply of refined sugar and eat it more than anything else.

I think I have carpenter ants. I had a broken pipe and they seem to be coming in where the wood is water damaged. Maybe it is softer for them to chew.

put cans of sugar mixed with boric acid away from your home to attract them away. Mix equal parts powdered boric acid and a sweet food such as peanut butter, corn syrup and powdered sugar, and then add water. for inside your home.
See if you can buy an ant eater too.

A similar thing happened to us. We tried spraying the perimeter, too, but those ants kept coming. Have you considered using diatomaceous earth around the house? It's a natural ant deterrent. Also, sealing cracks or openings where they might be getting in could help. While I'm here, how do you guys deal with yellow jacket nests? We have one in our backyard, and the struggle is real.
