That actually is a bit amusing to me because infant baptism, like priestly celibacy, is now so deeply ingrained in Catholic theology that there really is no practical rationale for defending it. If you are Catholic you naturally buy into these things as part and parcel of Catholic theology. If you are not Catholic it doesn't matter at all what a certain gentleman in Rome says about anything.

Peace to all,

In his homily, he told parents that “to baptize a child is an act of justice,” because through baptism “we give them a treasure, in baptism we give them a pledge: The Holy Spirit. The child leaves with the strength of the Holy Spirit inside, the Spirit which will defend them, help them, throughout their whole lives.”

“This is why it is so important to baptize them as children,” he said, “because they will grow with the strength of the Holy Spirit.” Pope Francis

To me Baptism created a being immortal and incorruptible from the Body and soul of failed mortal flesh and stained with sin soul of Adam and Eve. Baptism is to me, the introduction of the being into the Body of Christ to be transfigured by regeneration of the spirit in the soul to the sanctified state of Grace to allow the transfiguration from the Baptized immortal and corruptible Body of The Christ to be transfigured and glorified into the image of the Creator, the Father in Heaven.

To me, this is the logic of Baptism and the Communion.

The Cloud and the Sea is the blood and water that flowed from the Side of Christ. To me, Baptism and Communion in the fellowship of The Christ is to bring the being into the immortal and incorruptible Body into the Church of Christ. And then through reconfirmation of the Holy Spirit state of grace in the soul of the being the Spirit is regenerated for the Body to become transfigured into the image of the Creator, the Father in Heaven, by the Power of the Holy Spirit will of the Father, God.

And the Living Sacrifice is what restores sanctification to the soul of the being in the Body to transfigure, to become into the image of The Father, the Creator. To me this is the fulfillment of the eternal Love created by the flesh and soul of Adam and Eve. Adam’s only sin was he would give up his mortal eternal life to be with the Love of fallen Eve. And the “Gift” to US all is Jesus, in the Communion The Christ fulfills failed Love with eternal life of the Body and regenerated sanctified spirit in the soul of the being to immortal and incorruptible eternal life of the Body, spirit and flesh in the soul of the being all through the Power of the Holy Spirit will of God in the regenerated sanctified Holy Spirit in the Soul of the Being and becomming Transfigured gloriously in the Body of The Christ into the image of God, The Father.

To me, this is The "Gift."

Peace always,
Stephen
