Don't people tut in America? Maybe is an English thing... making a noise with your tongue on the roof of your mouth to show your disapproval of something. Caribbean people tend to do it as well, but with a bit more lip action making it a very different sound.

We're more likely to "tsk tsk" but my family tut, tutted.... (does that sound bad?)

King Tut (King Tut)
Now when he was a young man
He never thought he'd see (King Tut)
People stand in line
To see the boy king (King Tut)

How'd you get so funky (Funky Tut)
Did you do the monkey
(Born in Arizona)
(Moved to Babylonia, King Tut)

(King Tut) Now, if I'd known
They'd line up just to see him (Funky Tut)
I'd trade in all my money
And bought me a museum (King Tut)

Buried with a donkey (funky Tut)
He's my favorite honkey
(Born in Arizona)
(Moved to Babylonia, king Tut)

Dancin' by the Nile (disco Tut)
The ladies love his style (boss Tut)
Rockin' for a mile (rockin' Tut)
He ate a crocodile

He gave his life for tourism (King Tut)
(Tut, tut, tut, tut)
Golden idol
(Tut, tut, tut, tut)
He's an Egyptian
(Tut, tut, tut, tut)
They're sellin' you (King Tut)

Now, when I die
Now don't think I'm a nut
Don't want no fancy funeral
Just one like ole King Tut (King Tut)

He coulda won a Grammy (King Tut)
Buried in his Jammies
(Born in Arizona)
(Moved to Babylonia)
(He was born in Arizona)
Got a condo made of stone-a
King Tut

It's been quite a while since I thought of Steve Martin doing this song. Excuuuuuuuuusssse Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! ;)

So, for the younger crowd, I present Steve Martin performing King Tut.

Edit: :sigh: Apparently, you can't embed this video. So, go to You Tube and search on steve martin king tut. (should come up as the top video)

One thing I've noticed, is that what I find funny and what most posters here find funny seems to be 2 completely different things. That video sums it up (sorry!). Comedy for me either has to be either dry, intelligent, observational or if it is going to be offensive, you have to doubly make sure you are funny with it and be self depreciating. Slap stick and stupidity you can only get away with it if it is done in the right context and the scene has been set. Watching that clip on its own I can't imagine how anyone could even raise a smile. Maybe if you noticed some guy doing that act spontaneously on the street making a complete fool of himself, I could laugh. [/grilling over, apologies]

Seconded.

The only funny bit, for me, was the bit with the guitar.

In other news, people who quote Monty Python drive me crazy! The original sketches were fairly decent, but I don't need untalented hacks with stupid fake British accents reciting their favorite Monty Python jokes (which have been repeated to the point of staleness) as if it were their own idea and their own wit on display.

I like Monty Python and their humour, but then again it could be an age thing with some, or just they can't stand that type of humour.
My daughter watches The Mighty Boosh and I just don't get it, she rolls about laughing and I sit there going "What?"

I love the old style SNL with John Belushi and Dan ackroyd etc, but I try and watch it now and it just doesn't seem all that funny anymore.
The sketches with Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin crack me up, but that's about it.

You mean, like people who say "We are the Knights who say..."

Oh, I can't do it. I tried to stop them, but there was a car, and the little girl. That poor little girl. And her kitten. The stench of burning flesh and the spray of blood will never leave my memory. Pray that you never see such a sight.

...anyway, ni.

...that's how you pay tribute to Python, by doing something unexpected.

I love Monty Python. I hate people who quote it.
I get what you mean.
When some of my friends keep whacking out the Dead Parrot sketch over and over again , I get annoyed, I never found that sketch all that funny.

I like the vikings and the spam sketch, but then again others don't. Then again Nobody expects the Spanish inquesition....I'll get my coat. (The fast Show)

*shrugs* :)
