Fund conservation efforts as much as we can, put more resources into preventing disgusting practices like ivory poaching and properly punishing those who undertake them, and try and find scientific solutions to population losses.

During Lent I was reading a devotional that mentioned a theory - I can't exactly remember what it was called - but basically the idea you come away with is that it is the nature of intelligent beings to destroy themselves. If this is so, it's no wonder we've never found anyone like us. Regardless...if we don't change course...
Get genetic mappings of the species and preserve genetic samples. Hopefully the people who survive global warming (if any) will develop the technology to bring the species back someday.
