I am a materialist (or more accurately, a physicalist) in the sense that I think it is unlikely that there is anything supernatural. I certainly am not a dualist. Nearly every atheist I know is in this camp, though I know one who is "spiritual," and believes in some kind of "energy." Whatever that means.

Does atheism equal materialism?
no. it might have a higher correlation but i wouldn't say it equals it.

i don't believe there has been any event or action that has fallen outside the bounds of nature/existence.
however I doubt severely that we understand all or even most of what bounds do exist.

But we as christians know the answer is yes. Atheism is really just about enjoying your life and doping whatever you want since life is pointless (in their eyes). And part of enjoying life is filling with meaningless stuff for any number of reasons (fitting in, showing off, being hip...etc). So to some degree its about materialism too.
Why do you believe this?
