The Chicago Public Health Department (CPHD) announced last week the detection of 52 cases of measles, with the majority stemming from a shelter for migrants. Children less than five years old received 31 of the diagnoses. CDPH determined low vaccination rates from the immigrants’ home countries contributed to the increase in cases.

So the Biden administration was in such a hurry to bring people in for future votes that they did not vaccinate the children. Now these children, less than five years old, suffer. And what about the kids who are trafficked? What has Joe done to find out what happened to the 85,000 children his administration lost track of? This needs to stop.

Which misconception should I address first?

Perhaps that there are loads of children who were separated from their families during the Trump administration, some of whom have not been reunited, and I imagine most are in the U.S. Before that they were living in cages, and I'm sure they weren't vaccinated.

Or this misconception: A party that made fun of people wearing masks, tried to stop vaccination requirements, even on cruise ships, etc. is pretty hypocritical theorizing that Biden should have vaccinated undocumented immigrants. Get tough on vaccines when it serves your purpose, I guess.

Then there's this: When people come in applying for asylum, they are transported to a friend or family member's home (at the friend or family member's expense, most of the time.) The ones arriving by bus are generally being sent by Texas or Florida as part of a wicked publicity stunt to give big cities a taste of their own medicine.

And in the previous post, it's been said no cases of TB have been reported in Chicago shelters.

Hmm...

State health departments have all sorts of vaccines from the federal government. The shelters could solve their problem by busing new residents to the local health department to get vaccines. Problem solved.

We have an invasion from almost every country in the world, and it is deliberate. Joe has a border bill passed into law and still is doing nothing to stem the tide, instead he is trying to bring in as many as he can. The quest for power and control are taking precedence over those who get diseases or are trafficked or victims of violent crime or who will be future victims of terrorism.

What is their motive?
Joe has a border bill passed into law and still is doing nothing to stem the tide, instead he is trying to bring in as many as he can.
Do you have any evidence that President Biden is trying to bring in as many people as he can? Providing a number of people entered will not be proof.
The quest for power and control are taking precedence over those who get diseases or are trafficked or victims of violent crime or who will be future victims of terrorism.
Completely untrue.

The article you posted says "The city has not confirmed any reports of tuberculosis among residents resulting from contact with the immigrants."
which makes this post of yours moot.

Guidance for Evaluating and Updating Immunizations during the Domestic Medical Examination for Newly Arrived Refugees | Immigrant and Refugee Health | CDC
Agreed. And so everyone sees that, I will post a paraphrased summary of the article.

Here it is:

The article by Ray Lewis, published on April 4, 2024, reports on the confirmation of tuberculosis cases among migrants in Chicago shelters. The Chicago Public Health Department (CPHD) identified 52 cases of measles, with most diagnoses stemming from a shelter for undocumented immigrants. The majority of those diagnosed were children under five years old. According to CPHD, low vaccination rates in the immigrants' home countries contributed to the increase in cases.

The city of Chicago had more than 11,000 undocumented immigrants in its shelters as of March 15, 2024. The CPHD had anticipated a maximum of 150 tuberculosis diagnoses among city residents throughout the entire year, but the exact number for this year remains unclear. The health department emphasized that tuberculosis is not a new or rare disease in Chicago and will offer treatment to those diagnosed while taking necessary precautions.

CDPH reported that between 10-20% of Central and South Americans carry latent tuberculosis, which is asymptomatic and untransmissible. There have been no confirmed reports of tuberculosis among city residents resulting from contact with the immigrants. Tuberculosis is curable with antibiotics and requires prolonged close contact between individuals for transmission.

As of mid-March, nearly 15,000 undocumented immigrants had exited Chicago's shelter system. Over 5,000 of these individuals reunited with family and friends, while the city provided resettlement assistance to approximately 4,200 shelter residents. The commissioner urged Chicago residents, particularly new arrivals, to obtain vaccinations against measles as the city saw its first reported cases in several years.

Although tuberculosis is not considered a significant public threat by CDPH, measles poses a concern for the city's population due to its recent prevalence. The commissioner emphasized that most Chicagoans are vaccinated against measles, making them less at risk. However, they urged those who aren't vaccinated to get inoculated as soon as possible for optimal protection.

If the article is correct, CDPH needs to realize Tuberculosis is serious. Here's a statement from the World Health Organization in 2022, if anyone has a more recent statement please post it:

Is it worth risking the lives of children, not giving them vaccines, in order to get more control and power for the Democrats?

I agree that tuberculosis is serious, so it seems logical that the CDPH have their heads up their own [not gonna say]. :) Chicago has become an overpriced, overtaxed dystopia, so a lot of people are leaving the city. Heck, even the Europeans say that TB is serious, so when will Chicago implement better TB vaccinations? And this isn't even a political issue, so it is not best to drag the Democrats (or Republicans) into the issue. This is an ignorance issue, which seems to be prevalent in the Chicago government.

An Axios article describes the fleeing out of Chicago in more detail. If you want me to summarize it for other CF users, I can, but here is just the article link: https://www.axios.com/local/chicago/2023/02/08/more-people-are-moving-out-of-chicago

NYC Poll: 50 Percent of City Plans to Leave in Next 5 Years

While I do not like Newsmax, NYC is another dystopia, with red tape for everyone.

This is a guy who runs a computer repair business, and he left NYC in the early 2020s:

Video summary:

The video is a recorded customer service call between an individual named Louis Rossmann and the New York State Workers' Compensation Board (WCB). Louis is calling about a notice of non-compliance and penalty for failing to provide disability and Paid Family Leave benefits insurance. He explains that the issue is that the employee in question has never been to New York and that the non-profit has surrendered its paperwork in New York, making it not a New York state non-profit anymore. The representative from the WCB asks Louis for his WCB employer number or customer ID number, the name of the business, the business's address, and Louis's name and contact information.

The representative then informs Louis that there are two periods of non-compliance on file: one for workers' compensation from December 31, 2022 until the present, and one for disability benefits. The representatives states that Louis has already sent in the information for the workers' compensation period, but the disability benefits period still shows as non-compliant. Louis expresses confusion and frustration about this, as he has provided all the necessary information and has received confirmation of delivery. The representative suggests submitting a work request to have the information reviewed, and assures Louis that they will reach out to him via email within 10 business days to verify the information.

Throughout the conversation, Louis becomes increasingly frustrated and emotional, venting about past issues he has had with bureaucracy and red tape in New York state. He mentions that he has left the state and no longer has any business there, and urges listeners to avoid doing business in New York state due to the difficulties and fees he has experienced.
