J.K. Rowling has drawn pushback online after comparing a male who trans-identifies as female to "straight, white, middle-aged blokes" and suggesting that "crossdressing straight men" are one of the most "pandered to" demographics in society.

The 58-year-old author of the Harry Potter book series replied to a now-deleted post on X, formerly known as Twitter, by a handle called "PRIDE" about a trans-identifying referee named Lucy Clark making history as the first trans manager in the top five divisions of English women's football.

Rowling sarcastically tweeted: "When I was young all the football managers were straight, white, middle-aged blokes, so it's fantastic to see how much things have changed."

Although the post drew criticism from some users online and some in the media, Rowling, who has become a staunch critic of transgender ideology, doubled down by tweeting on Sunday that "Calling a man a man is not 'bullying' or 'punching down.'"

I like Rowling, and agree with her statement.

This video explains the situation (duration: 9 minutes, age rating 12+ due to heavy topic, no language used)

Video Summary:

The host is discussing the controversy surrounding J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series, and her stance on transgender issues. He praises Rowling for standing up against what he perceives as "trans propaganda" being pushed on children. The speaker references a recent incident involving a British soccer team hiring a "transgender coach," which resulted in Rowling posting a critical message on social media. This post has since been removed, leading the speaker to speculate that Rowling triggered those responsible for its removal due to her influence.
The speaker then quotes Rowling's tweet comparing the old, stereotypical image of a straight, white, middle-aged male soccer coach to the newly appointed "transgender coach." As Rowling points out, both individuals belong to the same category—being straight, white, and middle-aged. However, the original post describing the appointment has also disappeared, causing the speaker to conclude that the person referred to as "Lucy Clark" identifies as a straight, white, middle-aged man publicly transitioning in 2018 while remaining married to a woman.
Rowling faces criticism in the media for allegedly showing cruelty towards the transgender community; however, the speaker believes that Rowling is simply stating facts. In conclusion, the speaker invites viewers to share their opinions on the topic before signing off. Throughout the discussion, the speaker consistently refers to Rowling using pronouns matching her biological sex and maintains a critical viewpoint on transgender topics.

Its a sick world we live in...
Agreed, and is has gotten really ill over the past 5 years or so.

For instance: In 2023, Reverend Dr. Caleb J. Lines preached a false teaching (5 minute video) – a blasphemy, stating that “God is trans” and “gay”, which the Bible clearly states that God made man and women in his image (Genesis 1:27). The congregation failed to rebuke him, as the church had an un-biblical ideology as a whole, similar to the Church of Laodicea (Revelations 3:15).

This is info about the pastor, albeit from 7 years prior: The strangest place pastor Caleb Lines found God

We should pray for him, that he turns back to God, and away from false teachings.

I don't see the objection.

Does God actually have sexuality?

Well, God the Father refers to Himself as a He, even though God the father does not have any anatomy (according to the Bible), and Jesus is a guy. But, these progressive pastors are trying to slap on gender labels for God.

Rowling is a bigot that is weaponizing feminism.

I think Rowling should stick to writing fantasy, instead of alienating people that used to think of themselves as fans.

Have you read any Julian of Norwich? She was queering God hundreds of years ago.

And straight from the Holy Father's seat:

This queer movement is not good or healthy for us.

Quote from piece below: "Today, in this “gender revolution”, Satan is attempting to trick all of us into doubting something deeper: the very image of God."

Opinion piece: What the Devil’s Attack on Gender is Really Attacking

I disagree with that opinion, which is based on crude physicalism. The image of God is the potential to live out lives of love as rational beings. It is not defaced by somebody's gender or sexual identity.

Rowling is a bigot that is weaponizing feminism.
Where politics and social inequalities are concerning women, Feminism has always been weaponized. That's nothing new.

This is the simply the outcome of there being inherently distinctive aspects within each sub-culture or demographic rubbing up against the inherently distinctive aspects of another ...

Remember how 2nd Wave Feminists used to gripe about the social influence of Hugh Hefner back in the early 1970s? What J.K. Rowling is doing---whether I agree philosophically overall with her or not---isn't dissimilar from what those earlier feminists were doing on behalf of women.

Instead of looking for dialog with people of different epistemic communities, she prefers to engage in bad faith, cynical mudslinging.

Contrapoints on Youtube had a deconstruction of Rowling's rhetoric. She has had some traumatic experiences in her past that she blames on trans people.

Contrapoints on Youtube had a good deconstruction of Rowling. She has had some traumatic experiences in her past that she blames on trans people. So she isn't speaking from a place of good will.

Well, I find that for those women who invest heavily in becoming and being and maintaining a 'Feminist' ideology and activism, it is not infrequently the case that they are reacting to some previously perceived wrong or harm that men of some sort have caused (maybe an abusive dad, uncle or husband, or a dismissive pastor, etc.)

So, I hear you, FD, and it's a sad outcome that happens all too often where the whole of some group gets blamed for the indiscretions of a small handful of its members, or even from those of a single individual. Of course, occasionally, such a singular attribution is justified.

If God is beyond sex or gender... you do the math.

God created mankind in his image;
in the image of God he created them;
male and female* he created them. Genisis 1:27

God created male and female. Genisis 5:2

Does this somehow exclude gender?

Noone thinks so other than those who want the world to accept their ideology
that gender and sex are different.

I take that as descriptive rather than prescriptive.
