Hello everyone. :)

I have been thinking about starting a daily journal so that I can have and see all of my major thoughts for each day.

I then began to think about how I wish I had more motivation to pray. I know that I should be praying more, and I want to be praying more, but when I actually start talking to Him, I don't feel that it increases my faith much. Now I have the idea of changing the purpose of the journal altogether.

What if instead of writing to myself, I write to the Father each day and use that as my prayer time?

Is writing letters to God the same thing as verbal prayer?

Maybe just try it for a while and see how it goes. I am sure God would just like the fact you desire to reach out to Him. I would suggest reading the bible along with your writing of prayers, ask God about the things you have been reading about in the bible, along with all of your other petitions.

I think of it as more of a mental prayer, but equally prayer, and I would recommend writing for prayer. I keep a prayer journal that is exactly that (though it has grown to a Scripture meditation thing as well), and it's wonderful. God accepts all forms of prayer.

I think so, yes. I write to Him quite often, and to Jesus too. I always sign my letters to them "I love You 3" which means I love all 3 of the Trinity. I have journals and journals of prayers I have written over the years. I do also add in there at the end of each one that I am praying in the Name of Jesus or I thank Jesus for whatever it is I am praying for, as if He has already granted my prayer(s).

It is fun to go back over the letters sometimes and read them too. There are answered prayers to be celebrated. I can also see how much I have grown since writing what I wrote to Them years ago.

We all need to pray constantly (1 Thess 5:17). That's how we get to know him and learn the path to paradise (peace of mind).

I think that's a lovely idea. Once I read a story of a man who would write down his prayer requests. His family found them years later. All of his prayers had been answered.

I have also found that writing prayers can be effective. It helps to articulate one's thoughts and keep a record of them. Of course prayer can be on the run, on the knees, corporate, etc., too.
