That is a very long list of wonderful songs. I have been blessed by hearing most of those songs on the radio, and the Lord has allowed me to have many of those great songs of worship and praise on my computer's hard drive.

I'm not a religious person. But I do enjoy good music--secular and otherwise. And it seems that most all of the religious music posted here overlooks the classical repertoire. I suspect this related to the hegemony of the RCC when classical religious music was composed. But anyway, here are 3 great pieces of music inspired by religious belief:

Laudate Domium (Praise the Lord.) Composed by Mozart. An older recording that's somewhat tinny. But the Welsh mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins nails the solo part.

Panis Angelicus (Bread of the Angels.) By the Belgian/French composer Cesar Frank. Excellent singing by the Australian soprano Mirusia Louwerse.

Ave Maria. The Hail Mary set to music by Franz Schubert. It was originally composed for a play with a very different lyrics. The song became so popular, it was adopted by the RCC for the Hail Mary. Great singing by Rene Fleming.

I seen this video of Josh Gerrel years ago but could never find it again. I forgot the name and the songs. But I finally found it. I like that Josh seems to sing from experience and has his own voice. More of a singer song writer in the contemporary style.
