Ok first off I'm not interested in discussing love as and action versus love as a feeling and I'll put up with no arguing over what words another person has suggested. All I'm looking for is a few dozen words that describe love as an action or that define it or that define the feelings involved. I need the list of words for a project I'm working on that I'll share pictures of when I'm done. The sorts of things I'm looking for are things like:

compassion
sacrifice
reverence
honor

Really not looking for a terribly narrow thing so if it in any way relates to or applies to the idea of love as an action, in a positive way, toss it out there.

Again I'm not looking for a discussion of the concept, but if someone wants to start another thread, go ahead. All I need is a list of words.
Thanks.

I'm sincerely not trying to argue or pick a fight....but, I don't see these words as action words....not verbs or things we do:

compassion--is an attitude, something shown....we can't "compassion". Further....we can do the same thing, but have two different attitudes while doing it-- one to have compassion & the other just be doing out of pride or wanting to be esteemed.

sacrifice--that one may be.

reverence--definitely an attitude, and subjective as well.

honor--synonym for the above...so, the above applies.

Again....I'm not trying to tear your OP apart....just that I wanted to give my opinion that these aren't all action words.

1 Corinthians 13

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

This is the best I can come up with....

I wasn't asking for action words, I was asking for words that describe the action of love as opposed to the feeling of love.

I understand. I'm saying those words, to me, *are* more about the feeling of love or an attitude, not action.

Also, just as an aside, I think the words you chose chaz, while more feeling based, require actions to be lived out.
Compassion: while it starts in the heart, it does come out in the way we treat others. So actions are required for it to exist.
Sacrifice: usually there are actions, or a lack of actions, that come with sacrifice.
Reverence: while an attitude, it does effect our behavior. Talking calmly and quietly, choosing to listen instead of talk, etc all make this a description of love in action.
Honor: can also be known as respect, which alters our behavior towards others, so requires certain actions to exist.

I think your words fit what you're looking for just fine. Feelings often effect our behavior, and produce certain actions from us.

An adverb would be what would modify a verb so if we're looking for words which would modify the infinitive "to love", I'd go with these:

so
thoughtfully
respectfully
safely
dearly
diligently
truly
deeply
really
