a·pos·ta·sy = the abandonment or renunciation of a religious or political belief.

I know that the original poster has deleted their question for whatever reason, however I feel compelled to mention two points here.

1. Don't confuse discontinuing (temporarily I'd hope) worldly church or religious affiliation (commonly understood meaning of apostasy) with forsaking God. While you should do whatever God calls you to for the sake of His Word, including fellowship, deciding one day that you don't feel like you want to be a (insert denomination here) isn't the same as renouncing God. People of the world might wrongly condemn you, but they are not The One you need to serve.

2. Pray on it. Pray on it. Then most importantly pray on it. If you are one of His you will be guided to where you need to be. Anyone who turns on you with hatred in their hearts is not a true child of God.

Whatever issues have arisen in your life that you felt compelled to post such a topic I pray that they will resolve themselves with the power of God and that He will make your path clear to best serve and please Him.

God Bless

daughterofGod1…

He has already. When you were saved (if you were saved), your sins past, present, and future were forgiven. If you are knowingly or willingly apostate (this happens sometimes when a woman will marry a man who is in an apostate religion), it will grieve the Spirit. You are doing something that is against the Spirit and you will lose some of the blessing of being saved, for sure. You will also lose reward in heaven, 1Cor 3:13-15. But your spirit WILL be saved in the day of Christ, 1Cor 5:5. You will be in heaven.

What should be your desire in all of this is to get back in touch with the Spirit .. that would be through reading and applying the Scriptures. If you know it is apostate, then you know it is no good, right? But maybe, as the previous poster said, it is only apostate in the former denomination's or church's viewpoint.

I have had a similar experience. The church I went to had certain expectations of "Christians" that we either from the OT and law or were rules of that denomination, not the Bible. That being the case, they did not recognize Jesus in me, the Jesus of scripture, so I left.

If you are willing to return to Jesus and the Christian faith then you haven't committed some type of sin that is unforgivable. A real Christian is going to be like Peter... he might deny Christ but He will return and repent. If you are willing to come back to Christ then Christ will not turn you away.

Those who appear to accept Christ and then later fall away and never repent were never really saved in the first place. A person like that will never want to return. If an unbeliever commits a sin that some believe is unpardonable he will never want to come to Christ. So if you want to return to the faith then you have not committed a sin which is somehow unforgivable.

Of course, we do have the example of the guy in 1st Corinthians who was sleeping with his step mother and he got into a sin which was so bad Paul let Satan kill his body but his soul was saved. So it is possible for a person who is saved to commit sin which is so bad that God takes their life.... but they do not lose their soul.

Goat or sheep? That is the question at the heart of these sorts of questions. IF you are one of His (sheep) then He will never let you get so far from Him that you can't come back. The children of this world however (goats) will not truly ever want to know God. They may go through the social motions and put on a good show but their hearts are far from Him.

The only unpardonable sin (blasphemy against the Spirit ) is: To reject the Lord as your savoir, thereby you are not forgiven of your sins as you were never truly His.
