God gave these ceremonial laws to the Israelites to separate their practices from the Gentiles'.

It is not the case that NT authors were in disagreement with the Father about which laws we should follow and thought that we should rebel against Him in all areas except for what they specifically repeated. Rather, the NT says that it is by the Mosaic Law that we have knowledge of what sin is (Romans 3:20) and instructs us to refrain from sin. In 1 Peter 1:16, we are to told to be holy as God is holy, which is a quote from Leviticus where God was giving instructions for how to do that. In 1 Peter 2:9-10, Gentiles are included as part God’s chosen people, royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a people of God’s own possession, which are terms used to describe Israel (Deuteronomy 7:6), so Gentiles also have the delight of getting to follow the instructions that God gave for how to fulfill those roles. It would be contradictory for a Gentile to want to become part of a holy nation while not wanting to follow God’s instructions for how to do that.

There are things way more important than wearing a fine suit. They eat the fat and wear the wool but can’t feed the flock.
