Matthew 25:14-30 and Luke 19:11-27 were different parables on different occasions.

What is the significance of this difference?
Matthew used a more substantial unit of money. Both taught stewardship, responsibility, accountability, and judgment. I don't see much significant difference between the two parables.
In Luke, Jesus is the Nobleman and Unbelieving Israel rejects Him. Yet, Believing Israel is still among His servants via the 10 servants with 1 mina each.
The first gives Him 10 minas earned.
He gives the servant 10 cities and the mina that the first servant failed to invest.
The other servant doesn't grow the King's wealth, but cuffs the mina to Himself and calls the Nobleman Severe.
The Mina is taken from Him and given to the first servant. It appears that the man is declared wicked or as a goat that didn't forgive and love others.
This parable ends in the slaying of the wicked. This parable seems to be about National Israel and the division of it into believing and unbelieving. This could be old and future events.
In Matthew, the parable is about a Man who travels. He gives according to each man's ability. This is about the Gospel and the Royal command yielding new souls for God via Loving the least of these.
One man is given 5 talents and trades them for 5 more. 5 for 10. God commends Him and makes him a ruler over much. He gains eternity.
One man is given 2 talents. He trades them 2 for 4. God commends Him and makes him a ruler over much. He gains eternity.
One man is given 1 talent. This guy buries his wealth. God takes his talent and gives it to the one with 10. This guy is cast into outer darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth.
26 “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You
swicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. 27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.
God was counting on this servant to seek those that seemed unreachable. This servant was very self concerned and self righteous. He didn't see himself as being forgiven much, so he didn't LOVE MUCH. He was most likely too busy judging others, instead of extending Love to others.
